Three corrections: (1) Ski in / Ski out refers to the building or condo one stays in while at a resort and it's proximity to skiable terrain / lifts. It does not refer to the overall resort itself - otherwise every resort would be ski in / ski out if you lived near by. (2) Loveland Ski Area is before the Eisenhower Tunnel if traveling from Denver - so is easier and faster to get to than Keystone. (3) Similarly, Eldora Ski Area is only 49 miles from Denver - Keystone is 69 miles.

Finally! A very informative video with the need to know information. My 9 year old is still somewhat new and we are hitting Keystone for the first time on the 12th. He's convinced he is going to learn some beginner tricks at the "play ground" this year. I'm so happy to hear they have options for those not so great with getting on and off the lift just yet.

Great video! Going back to Keystone for the first time in 20 years in March and taking my 10 year old for his first western ski trip. Your video was a big help in seeing what things will look like on the mountain. It was really nice to not see it from an expert skier/snowboarders point of view since my son is still very much a beginner. Thanks

Dude awesome video! my first time going to Keystone and you already help me a lot! quick TIP! I suggest you to provide more info about the where to stay, how to get there, that free parking lot info was vital for us. I mentioned that to you because we have a really hard time finding a nice affordable place to stay.

Glad it was helpful! Very expensive traveling into the rockies. I will probably do a separate video for the best places to stay, but everything is pretty pricey and its best to book well in advance.

The point about midwesterners talking right now is kinda funny. Snow creek (kansas city) is my regular hill and about 75% of the time I'd ride up with someone and talk with mask of course.

Thank you! This video was really helpful. We are coming from an area with less restrictions, so we've been worried about following all of the protocols. We would talk to you on the chair lifts, haha. It's been 10 years since we've been to Keystone, and this time we are bringing three teens/preteens....so all of the beginner info was incredibly helpful.

My family is going in late March and we are taking ski school at Mountain House. What is the best way to get from Expedition Station condos near River Run Village, to Mountain House?
@mtnkds
@mtnkds 3 жыл бұрын
There is a free bus that you can take out front the main entrance of river run that you can ride over to mountain house. They usually run every 15-30 mins. The bus stop will be labelled for you!

Going to Keystone Feb 16th. My 10 year old son broke his leg skiing 2 years ago, so is very hesitant when out skiing again this year. He is comfortable on "not steep" hills. Are runs like schoolmarm and the other beginner areas, pretty flat, but just long, or do you pick up some decent speed?
@mtnkds
@mtnkds 3 жыл бұрын
There are a couple areas on Schoolmarm where you can pick up some decent speed. You might think about sticking to the beginning area then gauge how he's feeling and go from there.

thank you for this video. we are planning a family trip to keystone and because we are Floridians, we have a hard time in snow weather and high altitude roadways. (i am extremely terrified of roads on the side of a mountain. is that something we would run into on this trip even if we stayed off the resort in an air bnb?

Hello! Buddy, do you recommend buy the lift tickets with the lesson or not? I ride my skateboard but never tried snowboard/skii. Some recommendations before buy something?
@mtnkds
@mtnkds 3 жыл бұрын
If you have never snowboarded or skiied before you would probably be okay with just the lesson. But if you are a quick learner or want to give it a go by yourself then lift tickets would be the way to go as well.

As an intermediate is it possible to go up to the bowls? Or is it super sketchy? Is there a way besides the $500 Cat Tour to see the peak and if not capable get back down without snowboarding? I’m headed up there March 27th/28th
@mtnkds
@mtnkds 3 жыл бұрын
Keystone isn't the easiest to ski the bowls. There are actually hiking trails up to ski each peak, but its like a mile trek for each. Which isn't super fun in ski gear, the snow cat rides are definitely the easiest way. If you are an intermediate skier that's been skiing for years then the bowls are definitely doable. It is just important to know your own limits.

Yeah, unfortunately skiing at vail resorts is pretty expensive if you dont have the local pass. The cheapest skiing option close to Denver would be Loveland Ski Hill.

I disagree completely. Keystone is the lesser of the 4 Vail resorts in the area. Dercum is always overcrowded. North peak funnels everyone into the "freeway" runs to get back to the lift. Outback is fine but nothing special.
