Definitely the words, Jodie. My (b)rat terrier was apparently first trained (little as she was lol) in Spanish. She is a rescue, so didn't know that until I "lost my English" trying to get her to come inside. "In" or "In the house" I tried. When I said, out of frustration, "¡Ven en la casa ahora!" she finally responded and actually went inside. Over the years, she started to respond to English. When she wanted to. (She's quite elderly and getting fairly deaf, or faking deafness, so it's kind of back to square one again.) Of course, everyone has to see you, K'ey! Isn't allowed any other way, is it? 😂

It IS funny how some dogs can actually remember hte words we speak and it isn't alwys the tones as you said. My Pug lat night tried to bite the socks off my feet...to pull them off...soemthing he hasn't done for over 6 years...he only did that as a puppy. He remembered "...are you trying to steal my socks again...". Words I hadn't said to him in over 6 yrs :)) Amazing animals...dogs..(of course not all dogs have such amazing memories..)...
