I appreciate you sharing your dives. I was born in Kingston Jamaica where I learned to dive before I was a teen. We moved to Miami Florida in 1970 where the fishery was like Key West. I continued diving and used rod and reel only to catch snook. I was 33 when hurricane Andrew struck Miami. I was on a motorcycle after Andrew made landfall and was hit by a car. I had a left foot transmettarsal amputation and skin got ripped off the top of the foot. I aslo got 6 screws in my lumbar where it is fused and stenosis in C 6- C-7. I was not able to dive any more because even with neopreme socks it kept taking off the skin graft. Thankful for your videos it brings back memories. In the 70's Miami fisheries was like Key West.

Try your next sheepshead grilled on the half shell. One of the better ways to eat sheepshead. Just basted on some homemade garlic butter while cooking on the grill skin down about 6-8 minutes depending on the thickness of the filet. Salt & pepper to taste with a splash of fresh lemon juice at the end of the cooking process. Simple but delicious.

A few days ago I met a bloke down under who does something like you on a far more modest scale as a fishing hobbyist. He had a very large Kayak on the roof of his van fitted with an electric motor he and a mate had shortened so he could sneak into the shallow estauries near here. He showed me his most expensive bit of equipment: a long wooden paddle. What he briefly described reminded me so much of the spirit of your mangrove videos. He was nearly twice your age and not an ounce of fat on him.

Livin my dream through much of your work, thank you. Currently Looking forward to harvesting recreationally only... "poor man's grouper" AKA sheep head hoping for a good season here at my hometown, St Pete side of Tampa Bay, my struggling estuary, is not what it once was, but it is possibly repairable. It saddens me at 64 looking back at what was. then I think how bout my dad who fished in the late 30s in this bay, spearing Redfish & soap fish via row boat with a lantern. I have passed the tourch to my 4 boys and hope they follow through with the hunt. Peace Jimmy

Diving for stone crab at night I found that sheepshead were stunned when you shine a light on them. Grabbed a number of them by hand. Would be interesting to do a hand catching video.

I like the laundry hamper. That is a good idea if you are close to the boat. I have to use a dive bag backpack. Laundry hamper is not practical for me yet.

We call them "bay snapper", well at least some do, here in Louisiana. Many turn their noses up at them, but they really are one of the best eating fish there is to be had. When my girls were little we used to go tie up to some spots in knew and fish them with dead shrimp on the bottom and fill the ice chest -great fun and a hard fighting fish!

That's a slick boarding plank you devised, don't believe I've noticed that before. Gouda grits, heck yeah. I've been on a carnivore diet for about 7 weeks and my morning grits are definitely missed.
