He is just showing his version of how he makes the closest thing to KFC Gravy. If you don't like the his recipe than don't use it and move on with your life. I haven't tried it but even if it doesn't taste exactly like KFC Gravy, it sure does look like it would taste great. I don't know where all these internet thugs come from.

It would taste best if you use the oil(at least 1 TBSP you can put more) where you fried the chicken together with the crumbs(all of it) that falls from the fried chicken (just be sure that you don't cook on high heat or burn your chicken otherwise you gravy will taste bitter). Fried the freshly ground black pepper together with the all purpose flour(Don't put too much otherwise it will be very thick). The rest is the same as you mentioned. And YW!

If I may, this gravy is a basic gravy. The trick to making KFC gravy is to use the oil from the fryer, the seasoned flour used for breading and the chicken/beef broth combination. The flavor from the fryer oil and the flour add just enough seasoning and the broth provides a smooth consistency.

This recipe is nothing like the KFC gravy I'm used to. For "real" KFC gravy, look on KZbin for the 11 herbs and spice mixture (it was secret but has now been published all over). Make the spice mix with flour as described as if coating chicken. Take two tablespoons of the flour/spice mixture, pop in a small pan - add one tablespoon of butter and one of vegetable oil (better still, no butter and instead two tablespoons of the oil used to fry the chicken if you've made that), heat the flour oil mixture through for 5 to 10 mins to cook out the flour (making a roux) then start to add light chicken stock (home-made or made from a cube, doesn't really matter) and whisk through the roux. Keep adding stock and whisking until you have the gravy as thick or thin as you want it. If you have scraps from the bottom of the fryer, add those as they'll add a lot of flavour and texture. You can also add some of the 11 herbs and spice mixture without flour to boost the flavour to where you want it and some MSG. Simples.

@@jetcitysinatra7300 why? Isn't that weird? I have had KFC gravy in Turkey and it said Helal. Not available in Germany too bad.
@jetcitysinatra7300
@jetcitysinatra7300 4 жыл бұрын
@@halilacikgoz7865 no because the pig lard was from the bacon. It gives the chicken a better flavor and has a higher smoke point. KFC is way different than a Kentucky Fried Chicken. KFC cuts corners for profit. Most people that were born in the late 80s to mid 90s don't know how good Kentucky Fried Chicken used to be.

I weigh my flour, so I had exactly 5 tbsp. The rue never got clumpy/thick like yours. Had to add some corn starch at the end. A touch of salt, and probly about a tsp of poultry seasoning because it was pretty bland...turned out pretty decent after that, although nothing like KFC. It's missing MSG or something.

Hi Todd! Fellow Aussie here. I was just wondering what brand of stock cube you used here as I used Massel beef and chicken stock powder and the gravy came out tasting very mild and savoury, even with added seasoning. Could it be that Massel stock is made from all veg? Would love to know what you used so I can try again :)

I don't need to make this to know it doesn't taste like the actual stuff. I've worked at KFC and their gravy is nothing more than just the residue and gunk left from the deep fryer after cooking the chicken but watered down and blended/mashed up to make the gravy. Unless you're incorporating the ingredients used to make the KFC chicken batter then the gravy won't taste like theirs.

It's almost laughable that you actually believe that what you just said is clever. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're a bandwagon jumper. It's quite common over the internet actually. I'm always seeing people watch/read the opinions and instructions of others then actually taking that knowledge as their own. I actually went out of my way to try this method of making gravy. It was nice, I will give him that, but it wasn't "KFC gravy". You can understand how I know that you're full of shit.
@bourky93
@bourky93 10 жыл бұрын
Here's what you don't seem to understand. You clearly have made yourself believe that you're better than me, for whatever reason, yet you're actually trying to make yourself look good to someone that you've apparently placed low on the societal ladder. For someone who seems quite sure of them self, you have an unhealthy need to puff yourself up to a complete stranger. On a side note, I find it laughable that you call me petty yet imply that I'm beneath you just because of a job I had in high school? You would think saying stupid stuff would be something that someone in the supposed "top 5%" wouldn't do but here you are.

Are you making the gravy from the present or from the 60's, 70's and 80's? If it is from the present, they do not make it they just heat it up. If it is from the past then we made it by hand in the store. We used the chicken craklins from the deep fryer. It was light brown gravy back then.
