KFOX Long Beach CW Station 1968

This is the last remaining footage of a film I shot for a high school project on local radio. Long Beach, CA CW station KFOX 1280 was located at 220 E. Anaheim St, above an auto repair shop. In the 1960's, it was considered the country king of Los Angeles. By 1972, KLAC had taken over the top spot in country music and KFOX was eventually sold to a religious group who owns it to this day (KFRN).

KFOX was an affiliate of the ABC RADIO Entertainment Radio Network

KFOX had studios on the 30th floor of the LB International Towers, my sis office close by, great Grand Prix site...

This footage was shot before their move to the International Towers. At that time, KFOX still had their second tower which they used as emergency backup with a 500w TX. But they had already moved their main transmitter site to an auto wrecking yard in Wilmington. KLTX has a two-tower site off of Alondra Blvd. That may be what you're thinking of.

Do you remember a DJ named Joe Figarelli with KFOX? I remember a visit to the station when I was about 5 years old

I lived close by in the 70's, I could have sworn there were two towers on the building...

There were two towers. The tower nearest the alley was deemed dangerous and taken down. I don't recall but it's possible that the other tower was still standing when I shot this film.

Sharon, glad you enjoyed this little snippet of film. I wish I had more of it. I was about 15 when I shot the film so my memory might be a little shaky as to who those people were. I recall they were all very nice to me. Thanks for the clarification.
