"gorlitz is right on the border to poland" but also only because poland annexed all of actual east Germany and assimilated, persecuted, deported and genocided the Germans there and then just annexed that GERMAN land with the GERMAN cities, history, culture, landscapes etc... Millions of Germans got genocided by the polish (russians, lithuanians and czech) after ww2 and many millions had to flee to what the borders of today's Germany. That what you call "poland" there is actually GERMANY and never ever was a part of poland and also isnt polish. It wasn't even allowed to speak German anywhere in "poland" until 1992. The poles occupied and annexed that GERMAN land with its German spirit and architecture.

No, today's Saxony is not the homeland of Anglo-Saxons. The Anglo-Saxons come from Old Saxony, which was in northwestern Germany and northeastern Netherlands. Today's Saxony in eastern Germany got its name only from the old Saxon dynasty of the Wettins, who ruled this country from 1089. The people in this "new" Saxon country are basically immigrated Francs. Sorry, it's a bit confusing, but that's the hisstory, look here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Saxony
