I just got my Lyman 8 turret press today, and I shot a video on it. I wasn't very happy with the priming system, and have removed it. I'll hand prime from now on. But the turret press proved to be an AWESOME press! It took half the time to load my rounds with it, even with the priming issues. Thanks for your video on this

It's a great press even with the priming problems. I am definitely enjoying mine and I am glad the video was helpful. Thanks for the comment and happy reloading.

@@kyfirearms yes, sir. I don't know how I reloaded before I got this Lyman press. My 20 year old RCBS partner press was okay, but I loaded until early morning, even though I didn't need the l didn't need the rounds, first thing this morning tried to think about what other caliber ammo I don't need, to load... Between the Lyman press, and my new Hornady auto powder dispenser, I'm getting more done in less time.

I didn’t even bother to try to install the priming system.

Im torn between the Redding T8 & the Lyman A8. How accurate and concentric do rifle loads turn out on this press?
@Jerry-dk8se2 жыл бұрын
@@nmhvactech5474 Redding T7... it only has 7 holes for dies. I'm consistently getting 0.001" to 0.0015" runout. But I neck turn my once fired brass and new brass.

It's 3/20 in a Corona life. Midway USA has this press on sale for 189. That's better than what I paid for my Lee turret kit 10 years ago. I hate my "stock" priming system, and would love that upgrade. I almost pulled the trigger last night. But each time I say "What is wrong with my Lee?" Not a lot. I was raised in a day when a box of 22LR was all you got for a month. If you got a shotty it was a 20ga if you were lucky, just as likely a .410. My Lee can keep up with my shooting, but 189 and a better priming system...darn that is nice.

I really like my Lyman all american 8 station press. I use my primer system for regular hunting loads, and use a hand primer for my precision loads. never had any problems. This press really is a beefy, stable, and accurate. I like it better then our Redding T7 press just because of the 8th station. both are built like tanks and you wont tell the difference otherwise.

I've been looking at the AA 8 and the T7. Does the T7 quality make the price premium worth it over the AA8?
@kyfirearms6 жыл бұрын
The Lyman AA8 is very good quality. I can't personally compare the two, but it came down to the Lymans cheaper price for me.
@stetsonspurs46806 жыл бұрын
To me owning both I really can't tell the difference. Beyond the obvious color change, one extra station etc. They both have reloaded precisely and are very durable. So knowing what I know now I would just buy the Lyman and save the money, but there both great presses. I don't see the worth in putting out the extra money for the Redding T-7 unless you just partial to that brand and then by all means. Since we owned the Redding first I do love the press but if I had to choose now it would be the Lyman.

Do you ever use a powder through die and a Lyman powder measure on the Lyman 8?
@kyfirearms5 жыл бұрын
I haven't used that setup with this press yet. Thanks for commenting.

I just got the priming tool, and have problems with primers falling into the plunger hole and binding the ram. That was with large pstol primers. I like my old model Lee better, although the Frankford Arsenal looks nice, mine binds up a lot.

I have that primer. I like it lots. That press is on my wish list.

I ordered the hand primer. The primer on the All-American 8 is pretty brutal. Mine was not even functional. Called Lyman and they are sending me anther one. Press is awesome though.

What issue did you have I see what you are saying about the view when the primer system is installed but I saw some other videos that the system was giving them some problems.?
@kyfirearms Жыл бұрын
Mine was originally damaged when I received the press. I tried it out after I received the new one but just didn't like how it felt on the press. I also got used to using it without the priming system and like it better without it on the press. It is really just feel and personal preference for me, I am sure some people use it and like it.

Have you had any problems with the primer tray that came the the Frankford Arsenal Perfect Seat Hand Primer. My tray wouldn't load the primers. They all just backed up at the mouth of the hand primer. I did discover that the RCBS Hand Priming Tool tray works just fine. Am I the only one with this problem?
@kyfirearms2 жыл бұрын
I mainly only use it for large rifle primers, but haven't had any issues.

I don’t crimp I’d have four two die sets and have four different calibers on one head and use it like a single stage press. Set them and forget them.
@kyfirearms4 жыл бұрын
It would definitely work great for that. Thanks for commenting, I appreciate it.

Put a McDonalds straw in the ram and it will keep the primers from falling out of the top slot. RCBS Rock Chucker had the save issues.
