My father had a 2.0L in beige. Bought as an ex demonstrator from the local Ford dealer. Dead basic, but very comfortable and an excellent tow car. Upgraded to a mk 3 2.0 scorpio hatchback with manual gearbox and electric everything.

Lovely Granada ❤ I own a 2.0 L estate, its the most comfortable car I ever had. It's from 1982 with the Pinto 4 cilinder engine, the previous owner added a 5 speed gearbox wich gives it a good miles per gallon range😊 Mine is dove grey 🥰

but they did rust though, like nearly all '80s cars, and when you have a bill of £500 to fix a car that's not worth that when fixed, they get binned.

Relative luxury - base Fiesta Escort of the period didn't get a clock (or cigar lighter, passenger side mirror - internally adjustable, vanity mirror, folding rear armrest, front centre console with armrest, intermittent wipers - variable delay, instrument illumination dimmer, front & rear interior lights - 4 door operated and twin rear fog and reversing lights etc.)

KGF Classic Cars I didn't realise that Ford made such a sluggish 2.0 Pinto engine but apparently they did produce some detuned economy versions for various vehicles over the years . Most Capri , Sierra , Cortina 2.0 pintos were rated around 100BHP. As a base fleet model of the time fuel economy was the priority as fuel prices had increased in real terms considerably.
@PaulabJohnson6 жыл бұрын
@@glpilpi6209 it was more to do with company car tax in the UK at the time.. anything over 2 litres was hammered so there were a lot of executive type cars with tiny engines to get the tax break
