Please just out of interest, what language do you communicate with your babies? also are you intentional about them being multilingual, do they just pick out whatever you communicate and does it really matter??? hehehe and get well little Khumie🤎 xoxo

Hi babe. I’m not really intentional when it comes to languages but with Khumo it’s IsiZulu and SeTswana. I hardly speak to her in English. With Khwezi it’s very tricky, she used to speak IsiZulu and SeTswana when she was little then when we took her to crèche at 3 years old the teachers said they were concerned because she didn’t know the main language of communication “english” so daddy and I had to speak with her in English only. So once she had learned to speak English she moved 100% away from our languages 🙈 we didn’t realise we had done that to her until she had to meet my grandmother and it was a struggle communicating with her. We were so embarrassed 🥹 we had allowed her to speak English and in the process she forgot her home languages. But to fix that, we speak to her in IsiZulu and SeTswana but she responds in English 🥹 We’ve been trying to teach her the importance of her home languages and we’re getting there slowly but I’m sure we’ll get there soon coz she sees that we talk to Khumo is our languages so she tries here and there even though she sounds weird. We’re definitely not making the same mistake with Khumo coz it’s really difficult with Khwezi now.
