As a retired firefighter and fuels management officer more than 150 million dollars was spent in Oregon in the ten years (2000 to 2019) across Oregon. Some homeowners took ownership and responsibility to manage their own land but most had no interest in doing so. This map showing Eastside counties with the same risk as a place like Eugene is ridiculous. Ag/farm land that haven't received water in a year are still at a high risk. Maybe Oregonians need to realize where they live, the risk they are willing to take and take responsibility for their lands. Insurance companies SHOULD be regulated and forced to cover homes no matter the location. Timber companies need to clean up their logging messes. Fire isn't stopping and only getting worse because of climate change. Time to realize this is now.

the link to insert Oregon Forestry Department address is not functioning. I am forced to use Century Link that does not allow me to call for an ambulance, or receive calls from doctors, hospitals and local attorneys so maybe the access problem is Century Link not OFD. Please let me know if you have info reqarding Century Link. I spoke with OFD employee Marc and his manager Casey Christenson at Oregon Forestry Department yesterday and they were very nice but not able to make their own site provide a link where I could send my address. They could not even find my address in their records! They are saying the same story they gave last time they updated the Wildfire records---"we were only given two days to prepare". Seems to me they had years to prepare and previous experience too! Isn't providing this update required by law? Why didn't they know a mandated requirement was due? Perhaps this department needs a performance audit. This appears to be another look busy and do nothing project Oregon has become so infamous for.~~~ I feel soooooo protected. I wonder how much money was spent on the State Fire Marshall's fancy website that DOES NOT provide access to the Department of Forestry's wildfire hazard map? Since the state refuses to respond to my requests for records I hope someone else will ask the state how much the State Fire Marshall spent to create and maintain its website that will gladly help you buy stuff from them but not give you access to the OFD wildfire update?? Come on folks, its not like you didn't know the update was coming! There are so many issues here--the Governor and Oregon Utility Commissioner's failure to manage PGE and Century Link, the failure of West Linn to properly manage and maintain the properties they were entrusted to care for, the failure of the State of Oregon to maximize resources between departments like the Department of Forestry, the Fire Marshall (ALL IT WOULD TAKE WOULD BE A LINK FOR GOODNESS SAKE!) and ODOT for failing to provide alternate routes of escape during a disaster. What can I as just one citizen do?? Why should I pass a school bond levy to build a school in a fire prone zone and endanger children? Why should I vote for a bond to build a recreational center in a fire zone when that bond money can be lost in minutes? Why should I vote for politicians that allow PGE to burn us to death us, destroy our property, destroy entire towns, exploit us financially and deprive us of our civil rights? Why is there no enforceable state policy regarding the care and maintenance of open space by cities like West Linn that give developers access to the PUD process to hyper develop property that interfaces with the wild land habitat? Under West Linn's codes we cannot comply with the defensible space requirements because our lots are too small. I implore all you people who are supposed to represent us in Salem. Please start passing laws that will restore our rights and our safety over corporate rights. Please eliminate the PUD process. I am voting NO on ANY AND ALL REQUESTS for money (bond levies) until the state and counties have system audits to determine where the problems are and implement plans to correct the problems in our governance.
