Escape from New York Pizza on Northwest 23rd Avenue is celebrating 40 years in businesses. They're giving away a free slice of pizza and a small drink to each customer on June 26. KGW Sunrise anchor and reporter Drew Carney spoke with the owner, Phil Geffner.

Mazel tov Phil! Having grown up in Jersey it's so comforting to me to have SFNY. You're also 100000% correct about ranch dressing 🤮 It's an insult to proper pizza crust. If you have to dip crust into ranch, the crust isn't worth eating. There are a million other places to go for that.

I grew up in NYC and the pizza parlours there always put Italien herbs on their pizze. No one does that anymore so I make my own. Hard to get real Italien mozzeralla though.
