Of all the KZbin channels on interior design in Vietnam, I like your channel the best. Your knowledge of the evolution of the Vietnamese architectural heritage is exceptional. The two clips on the Indochine style were my favorites. May I have your permission to offer a small suggestion? Traditions are composed of layers upon layers of prior influences. As such, it is good to preserve some of the original cultural legacies - which include the original French pronunciation of words (Unless it was transcribed phonetically into a Viet or Sino-Viet word, such as “Ba Lê” for Paris). The English-language has such a strong dominance today that many French words relevant to the Vietnamese culture are pronounced in the Anglo way, which is neither historically correct, nor culturally congruent. Although the French officially colonized Vietnam in the late 19th century, their influences had already started since 1624. The US was involved in Vietnam for a mere 20 years from the 1950s-1970s. As a result, the word “Indochine,” for example, should be pronounced the French way, or we should use instead the Vietnamese word “Đông Dương.” If the English pronunciation is preferred, perhaps “Indochina” would be more appropriate - but that word does not convey the same esthetic sophistication that Vietnam embodies. English is the international language of opportunities and prosperity - and we should know it fluently; however, we should never let it re-define and alter our heritage. Most speakers do not realize this but the English language itself was derived from Norman French since 1066, and most educated native English speakers (British, American, Australian, New Zealander, etc.) would pronounce the word Indochine the French way. I would like to sincerely thank you, who are so creative, and who know in detail about our cultural history, and truly make me feel so proud that I was born Vietnamese. Après la pluie, le beau temps - After the rains, comes the sunshine; Sau cơn mưa, thời tiết đẹp. Please keep up the good work! Rất thích kênh của Mạnh Hà đấy!

I actually happy to read this comment. As your view, I said "Indochine" instead of "Indochina" because of its history. I will share some of finished Indochine construction next videos. Just follow me and here we go. Thanks and best regards.

@ Mạnh Hà - I do really like your channel, because I think you are the most educated of all the KZbinrs on architectural designs . You should teach good taste that stems from historical values, as well as culturally appropriate decor rather than the current trend of Tân Cổ Điển of random European styles with excessive embellishment of details, which have nothing to do with our history or culture. When a Westerner look at an Asian copying Western style without an educated eye, they would not be impressed and can even mỉa mai us. That video you did on Louis XVI neoclassical was an excellent introduction - you should expand the discussions on the different styles (Louis XIII, XIV, XV, XVI, Directoire, Second Empire (Napoleon III), etc. to teach the young consumers to be more educated and sophisticated. When foreign tourists come to Vietnam, they want to see our culture - and the legacy of Indochine. They don't want to see fake Italy on the canal, or weird hybrid architecture and decor that did not exist in the past. You might want to distinguish yourself as the expert in Indochine style. (The other Indochine style that I like is the Art Deco that exploded in the 1950s that was uniquely Vietnamese). I think you should continue to use the term Indochine (and pronounced it in French). Indochine is elegant, and evokes an air of sophisticated stylistic approach to decor and architecture. Indochina is banal, just an English word like a thousand other English words, a language every country in Asia uses, nothing special. We are no longer a colony of France, but we have ownership and we possess every right to use the cultural legacies they left behind (language, for example) and position these to to our advantage. How to Pronounce Indochine - this is the best that I could find on KZbin. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIrKZWqYbq2trs0 Thank you sincerely Mạnh Hà, I did subscribe to your channel and will follow. Be a good teacher to showcase our wonderful and rich culture!
