@Joshua Smith of course in your other comments you left out the second half of effective striking/grappling. Yan did all of the effective grappling with 6 takedowns and several of them leading to good ground control. Sugar was more effective in striking barely. Yan got robbed even by the criteria you have here.

Sean will most likely lose this fight. He can stand with almost any bantamweight, especially with guys who like to throw high volume and move around the cage a lot. Yan a different type of bantamweight, though. He comes from that Chito Vera archetype. Stalks their opponent, blocks incoming strike and counters hard, often resulting in tons of damage, with very limited strikes. I can’t see Sean taking out Petr unless he gets a lucky shot on the chin, or else it’s gonna be 2-3 rounds of punishment.

I think what really decided it was that gash that O’Malley gave Yan over the eye, I know they don’t score based off of that but the fight was pretty even except for the knee that caught Yan and the few strikes that really wobbled Yan. Would love to see a rematch.
