It's actually a good thing they slowly work him up the ranking... to allow him to slowly and methodically build both his confidence and experience. The kid is an elite wrestler and his kicking is also elite (very unique); but he still needs to polish up on his striking. He and Islam are not 99.99% chain wrestlers like Khabib; they could actually do good stretches of stand-up against good strikers, even if ultimately the get their opponents down. People, for example, will get to see how good Islam's stand-up really is, when he fights Charles. Charles being a next level BJJ, even if Islam takes him down (due to the latter's superior wrestling), he'd need to do it at the right place & right time... so, in the mean time, people will see how good Islam's Muay Thai really is... and why it's so hard to land cleanly against him in a per minute situation....
