His masterpiece! Aram truly was a giant--I only wish we could hear more of him in the West. Seattle is all-too rarely treated to this wonderful music. Thanks for sharing this fine performance. Kurt.

Ooohhhhh....this thing makes my heart hurt, it's so lovely. I've loved Khachaturian's music for years, and have never understood the reluctance of the Seattle FM radio classical station I listen to to play more of his music. They're stuck on German composers most of the time, I guess. Boring. I prefer Khachaturian...his music is passion personified. It's a part of my soul. Thank you.

When I was a little boy, my dad would play the Gayaneh ballet suite again and again in the living room as my brother and I would drift off to sleep. It was the very first classical CD I ever purchased for myselfI could listen to it a thousand times and never tire of it. My only regret is that when I pass from this earth I won't be able to experience it ever again. Thanks for putting it up here. Happy Holidays all.

Thank you so much for posting this! Khachaturian had always been a favorite composer and this is one of the most beautiful pieces in Gayane. So very happy to have found this - it's very meaningful to me.

Another Khachaturian work played on a portable (hand wound) portable record player at a boy scout camp in the 1950's which a troup committeman found very upsetting--fearing that such Soviet music would somehow subliminally brainwash American youth toward Marx, Lennin and Stalin. I still have these 78's with their ground in dirt from that 1950's camp in the Missouri Ozarks.

He is the most famous Armenian all over the world in 20th century. He is everybody's hero in Armenia. But you see our neighbors azeris are very envious. They think every tune in the world was composed by their the only composer Uzeyir whoever (by the way , all their musicians used to be from armenian populated Karabakh, so our genes talk!)

in order to understand the music you have to learn/study//the culture of that nation so that you can get the real feeling of the music specially when that music has the ethnic flavor that is the difference between Arams and composer like him and other composers. there is a nostalgia in this piece that comes from armenian history of being forgotten victims of turks and other barbaric nations
@Tatevikmann12 жыл бұрын
Tbilisi built by Armenian people, Georgia was a big village Armenian made it's culture theater, music, Churches, homes and city's. Aram Khachaturian's family escaped 1915 Armenia genocide, they came from Bitlis Western Armenia now unfortunately turky
