FGO made a lot of progress in 2024. They knocked off most of my list from the prior year with both fixes to existing problems and improvements to the game's systems. They did a great job of getting back in the proverbial saddle and returning to the pacing they set years ago. That said there's still room for improvement. What would you like to see change this year as FGO heads into its 10th year of gameplay?

I just wish the "challenging quest" design isn't completely and utterly catered to minturning. Putting massive time based debuffs the longer the fight goes on disincentivises stall teams EXCEPT SPECIFICALLY THE EXTREMELY BORING IMMORTAL TEAM. DOT should be able to break bars to be more viable, DOT should have secondary effects, having everything so so so catered to minturning has turned FGO into a monotony.

One of the biggest QoL features that fgo is still missing is better menus and showing traits of allies and enemies. Having to go to third part websites to figure out where the best place to farm for a specific mat or having to look up if the enemy in a node is Human or Humaniod or Giant or Huge or they're Star or Earth is a chore. Veteran players have a good idea of what an enemies traits are by looking at them, but newer or more casual players don't. Especially since lately we're getting more and more Servant that are specifically good against a specific trait. If you're lucky it's something like Lawful or Evil that you can look up in My Room, but if Demonic or something, the only thing you can do is go to a wiki.

Not having the amount for a pity and getting close and nothing out of it is such a crushing feeling, because you know once the banner changes all those quartz went into a black hole for nothing. There needs to be something to make f2p/dolphins feel a less crushing blow in those situations.

Let’s ask the business bros to throw free money into the trash bin when their waifu obsessed NEET fans currently throw their entire life savings at pixels on a screen no matter how horrid the rates are. The only reason why Hoyo games are so generous is 1. The sheer size of their whale base who bank roll their entire company and 2. Multiple proven modern monetization models (scams) like Battle Passes and a Monthly Passes which coax their no spenders into low spenders. FGO would literally be unsustainable if they ever implemented a Hoyo pity system and why would they try to “fix” a system that still rakes in millions? Wishful thinking, but until the game actually nears EOS I doubt they change anything.

Yeah the pity system is still hurting 4 stars to this day. I understand the more improvements they make, the less money they get. But I think it would do a lot to improve the gacha's reputation and gain some community goodwill.

One thing that I personally really wanna see is the ability to use Summon Tickets for multis. Why can you only use them for singles, other gachas let you use their version of tickets for multi-rolls or have a 10-roll ticket of some kind but FGO forces you to exclusively use them for singles. It's been almost 10 years lasanga, come on man.

I got to about 800sq into getting Summer Ibuki but I just could not afford spending money at the time to go that extra bit to pity her. And with their current system, all those quartz went up in smoke for nothing. If I wasn't so tied to the game with such a good box already, that would have been a crushing blow that might have made me drop it for awhile if not forever. The ticket system like Nikke has just so you're not throwing currency into a pit for nothing unless you have a pity amount available would make so many players happier even if they get screwed.

I really disagree with the quick take. They have a clear way of going with quick, and I think that what you are looking for is not going to happen. The low rarity support I get, but everything else I don't agree with. If you look at the units last year, and the buffs last year, its very clear that the way quick is designed is to: 1) Use all cards in the deck and not hyper fixate on one 2) A lot of the power comes from the (recent) units themselves, not the supports. To address the first, we have to look at the 3 strongest quick supports. Skadi, Summer Skadi, and Kazuradrop. Skadi increases quick and quick crits as well as attack up in the form of def down, Summer Skadi increases quick, buster, attack, and buster crits, and Kazura applies 50% quick up to np, and 100% on critical quick cards, and 50% arts and buster up on crits. as well as 50% attack up in the form of def down. This ends up with a situation where you can have "Quick" servants easily doing NPBA or NPAB chains and doing an insane amount of damage, and refunding their NP. For boss fights it gets rather ridiculous, and yes when it comes to farming you cannot do the standard 3/3/3 with no starting charge with just double skadi swap oberon sometimes, but neither can a lot of buster and no one complains there. This goes into the 2nd point, is a lot of the power from quick comes from the units, not the supports. Many of the recent quick units that you see have very strong individual kits, much stronger than what you see in arts or buster teams, and they've buffed many servants over the past year to show that. Look at Meltryllis, and Baobahn. Look over at Louhi, Hibiki & Chikagi, Monte Cristo, Ushi Gozen, all of these units have extremely high levels of power. So while the supports may not give as much to them as others (Though I still think they give plenty) their internals carry them. Sure there are older units that don't match up to this, but their recent quick designs I feel conveys what they want to do with it going forward. Quick units perform quite well in 90++ situations, multicore farming, where they are being slotted in with another card type as well. Their inherently strong self buffs can carry them through and allow them to help even without their meta supports. What you are looking for is homogenization, which I don't like. We do not NEED Castoria but quick, we have Castoria, you can use Castoria with a quick if you want to stall. You can use Merlin if you want healing. People use Castoria in buster teams, people use merlin in arts and quick teams. You don't need every support to be the same. I would be rather annoyed if we got "Castoria but quick" because then it just makes quick just... arts. The only thing I would say is sure, a low level quick support would be nice for quick, and yes a spread charge for the party would be nice, but to act like quick is actually terrible right now is not correct. Quick is amazingly strong and has received the most attention over the past year, and I really recommend looking into quick units more, if you're looking to do more than just farm normal level 90 nodes, I think they're a lot more fun than arts and buster units a lot of the time. Also unrelated but how have you not had TOS issues with that image above you, wow I'd be terrified to use that image on stream.

In that case they need to do more quick servant skill or np upgrade for the year 1 - 3 units who feel worse compared to more modern quick servants. A simple example is rider Kintoki, without support he doesnt opperate well by himself and is most used for spaming his NP which is more suited for arts servant than a quick. Servants like need to create a niche to catch over other card types. Another example of this of an older servants is Atlanta and Berserker Lancelot which both feel like servants with only 2 skills in this day and age

Castoria but quick wouldn't make quick just arts. Arts strongest thing is how strong getting all arts cards are for the 20% bonus to NP. Quick will never have that advantage as easily.

Hard disagree, 1. Units are starting to come out regardless of card type with kits that have supportive capabilities and also capable of holding their own. Tezca, Space Eresh, Kulkul, Phantasmoon, Aoki, Louhi are all quite competent servants in the era of multicore functionality. Which just leads to the eventuality that despite quick having GOOD options, the inherently better card types will probably see more usage. Its why you dont see people recommending them. Power based on oneself should not be the design philosophy the card goes in, that should be inherent design to a units kit in general. The issue however is that quick as a core SYSTEM, they don't get anywhere near as many supports that open up options comparatively. You're not sitting with prince of lanling, nero bride, tamamamo, castoria, paracelcius, xufu, merlin, miyu edefelt, lady avalon, popess johanna, himiko, hans, and many other type supports for the quick system. And no, they absolutely do not "give plenty" if you're forcing them into a system they arent the best for even if they work. Noone is saying, make castoria but quick. That narrative is being assumed before even discussing the need for supports. People are saying these issues exist with the card type, here are some solutions that might work, but we have no idea on what actual servants would release that fix this issue this card type has. Very much not the same as saying we need castoria, but make it quick. What people are looking for are more quick supports that are quick centric designs that enable them to feel as if they are elevated to the same support level that the others have. Quick doesnt have that hyper defensive support that arts or buster has. No matter how much you say merlin fits that, he's not the solution the card type needs because you're effectively gimping him to make quick work. quick is not unusable, but its in a terrible spot because it receives the least legitimate support options and focus of all the card types. And thats objectively the truth. For someone getting into the game and looking from the outside in, noone who isnt being quirky is going for the quick card type because its the legitimate hardest to setup and gets the least returns for investment. Buster only gets away with what it does because it can work its investment. If koyan didn't exist, I'd also be poking at the issues buster has.

@SoccYT I don't know if you've ever used a quick unit from the past 2 years in JP but they're not unusable. Quick has like one or two misses for units in the past 2 years and otherwise has had some amazingly strong units release. When it comes to power of modern quick units using the supports they have they do not lack in power compared to the arts and buster units thay people are using, is what I'm saying. Also some of those units you listed for support are card type agnostic, Nero bride, miyu, hans, all don't have a set card type. And I understand that arts and buster have more support options but how does one having more mean the other one can't function at all? Also some of those are so niche people really don't use them that much... like Johanna quite literally is some stop gap on crit damage for arts, because arts does and still is terrible for crits, a problem quick and buster don't have. But I get wanting to have low star supports, but I still take umbrage with the idea that quick is unusable. I've been using quick a ton for the past few years in farming and frankly most of the time I find it better than buster for just farming events

The game needs more reruns of servant banners. While some servants get multiple banners a year, some will go years without anything. I had been saving to get kingprotea at the beginning of this year but they randomly switched her out for Melt. Now my only chance of getting her is potentially waiting for a gssr or a random banner they add at a later date. Just give them a 1 day banner for their birthday or something.

Bond CE improvement definitely one of my biggest things thanks to their Grand System announcement. I cared before, but it was relatively low priority compared to other things; now it's super high priority, because it's hard to look forward to a system when the perks aren't there, on account of one or more of your favourites having a terrible Bond CE, as mine does. Also kind of feels wrong knowing that hordes of people will be Granding Herc not because he's their favourite Servant, but because he has one of the best Bond CEs, as I would think Granding purely based on meta is not what the devs had in mind. There will of course always be players who make their decisions based on meta, and there's nothing wrong with that; my problem is that there's such a chasm between a meta pick and the next level down. P.S. also Quick, of course; I too am tired of talking about it, and I too am tired of Arts getting Supports it doesn't need and Quick continually gets nothing. Especially now that they're starting to add more Arts Crit Supports? Just trying to make Arts do everything, are you Lasagna? And who's responsible for that? I can't help but feel that somebody at Lasagna (Nasu maybe) resents Skadi's time in the sun and wants to make Quick eternally pay for a crime it didn't commit.

Also they need to add percentage for skills and passive. As well as show servant complete info on the actual summon banners. So that casual players in particular will know what the servant can actually do. Nothing is more this disheartening to know that you waste your materials or saint quartz for mediocre improvement or character when the game should tell it to the player in the first place.

If you play multiple gacha games or are just a busy person, fgo's pacing for events is perfect. Sparse (so most "dailies" only ask you to log in) and long (easier to enjoy reading and progressing event story at pace). There are enough games that do neither and pepper you with task-heavy, storyless side gameplay that exists to eat up your time and force FOMO.

(For the 2024 points) On the topic of quick supports, it'd be nice to have one more geared toward the quick/arts deck alongside the quick/buster and just quick ones we have. For mix and match ascensions, it'd be nice to use traits for one in another somehow for skills that need it (like summer tlaloc's bunny buffing skill). Doesn't help when you have 3 ascensions but one is clearly more optimal. For bond ces, it might be interesting if you could set the stats on it between 2k atk and 3k hp or enhance one or the other to where you want. For coins, definitely agree though it is nice that they warn you if you're going to use a 5*/rare 4* or 3*'s coins. For main story coming out, even if it's not main story it's nice to have less dead weeks, even if they're just rerunning an old event like they used to. For mana prisms, it might help if the ces weren't 1k a piece. Also can we get more bond grails?

It seems pretty clear that as far as quick goes, it’s less about the supports and more about the DPS/Pseudo Supports. Quick compensates for its lack of supports with having slightly more comprehensive kits in the units. It’s like the opposite of Arts, where the DPS units are slightly underbaked to compensate for how cracked Castoria is, Swibuki and Smeluko aside. As for bond overflow, they want you to use different units, so that you roll multiple units. I think they could do something like granting like 7 servants the perpetual bond bonus status so you could make sure your supports get done, but that’s really it. They want you to run Marin and Xu Fu instead of bond 15 Castoria.

But ideally we need more quick options, I'm just gonna flat out say it, its ridiculous that I can point to various arts supports out there yet can barely name any quick supports of worth. I mean comparatively, you have xufu and paracelsus in the arts category for lowtier, for 4*s you have prince of lanling and stuff like miyu and other solid supports. I'm not trying to take away from them, but its just very much frustrating that of the systems there's only 2 real supports you can actually point to for quick. Can we have like this years anniversary servant be quick support based? Not saying it needs to be anniversary, but given the track record of anniversary servants being trailblazer servants it would be the best chance at it.

Great video. FGO did address many of the concerns you laid out. Some of it required stepping on a rake to do, but results show it was ultimately necessary. And the speed of announcement and rolling out of said fixes speak to how much the devs internally knew this was an issue. As chances are, the lack of a coin fix was a directive from management that held the front-end devs down. Mana prisms is a valid concern, and one with multiple potential solutions. I believe the devs want to make reaching a point where a new account can consistently clear the mana prism shop as a goal/stepping stone for new accounts. But players shouldn’t have to rely solely on lottos to reach that point. As that is difficult to do for new accounts. One of the simplest solutions would be to attach mana prisms to story completion. Maybe add 10 or so after each section, like the pure prisms, exp, materials, and quartz we get. The bond issue is definitely tough. As I sympathize with the devs wanting to incentivize playing with multiple units. Which is a multi-faced problem that requires addressing from multiple angles. For meta supports, they found a half solution by releasing effective duplicates of Skadi and Merlin. A bandaid solution at best. A more versatile solution would be to increase the variety of meta support units that enable different comps. Koyansakay of light is a great example as it added cooldown reduction stacking into a meta comp. Like, the Atlus mystic code became a viable option as a result. And I think I’ll stop this point here for brevity. They’ve kinda been addressing the bond CE issue. As more units are releasing with unique effects, such as Rasputin and douman. And we’ve seen new type of buffs for generic bond CEs, like anti alignment damage.

31:39 Gonna be honest whether or not an event goes on too long is a really weird issue to have. Especially in months like these where you're either> doing story stuff>bonding> then waiting for the next event. I personally only really have an issue and its kinda what keeps me from being around from events full time- is that on events the story is locked to waiting until the next day on some events. Meaning if I wanna be able to take some time to dedicate to said events I typically have to wait until the last few days of an event to rush the story, and the farm. This is not the most efficient strategy, I am aware, but its the one I can plan for admist my life and I have missed some events due to this. But it would help if events are situated to where I don't wait until the last few days to finish it up unless its a lottery. That and more reruns are always welcome, if you're gonna slow down evocation and whatnot at the least they can do is rerun them once or twice until they can so people can get good event stuff.

@Khadroth: I strongly agree on many of your points. As someone who started a second account 9 months ago, your point on mana prisms not being acquired fast enough for new players is spot on. In order to progress a new account, you need to get the bond CEs, SQ CEs as soon as possible. I've only been able to buy and max limit break 2 bond CEs with that account over 9 months of playing regularly and finishing all content. Plus, getting 3* Fous were a big problem because you just don't have enough relative to the rate you acquire new servants. I still don't have enough to 3* star Fou Skadi Ruler. Strangely, it would be worse for whales because whales would acquire servants at an even faster rate than I did, so not being able to get more 3* Fous is a disincentive to be a big spender. It kind of shows a lack of knowing their players well and what they need/want and the fix is easy. Just put more 3* Fous in events, give more away, and/or put more in the mana shop or put them in the prism shop.

To add to the list; -Improved UI, should be able to go to a servants page and level up, skill up, ascend, grail etc all on the same page -Should not be capped to 20 embers, should be a slider than can go to max level -Said Servant pages have actual skill/np numbers and info so 3rd party websites not required. -Streamlined farming, they won't do automation but who would pay 2x the AP for 2x the rewards to farm to get 2 for 1 battle efficiency? -In addition to more story chapters, best part of the game tbh, more side stories and adventrues NOT time gated by events would be very nice that can release every few months. -Eliminate Dead weeks; Weekly raid Bosses, daily recollection quests, weekly lottos up to 5-6 boxes etc. give me a reason to log in a play outside of events and story that leave weeks, if not months with nothing to do but inefficiently farm QP. -Instead of Bond overflow; Max Bond units can continue to earn Bond points, instead of adding bond levels each 1 million or w/e BP earned grants coins.

Honestly I'm surprised character details aren't on this list considering how important they are. Sure, skills are already long description wise in many cases, but if we could actually see the values and extra details of attributes and attribute advantages it'd be huge for all players, especially new ones. Would mean not always having to look at Atlas or the Wiki just to get those values.

I'm sorry for posting so much but this is such a huge overarching topic. Had you asked me in 2023 going into 2024, one of my major requests even if the community would disagree to hell and back was more reruns for units. I think they are doing better, which is nice, but I'd probably like to see some reruns for servants outside of the lostbelt support campaigns that happen. Summer servants are a once a year tossup (without counting gssrs) despite some of them being meta essential or quite account building. My major issue with this is it actually forces the decision to skip anniversary for summer or summer for anniversary. Not saying that you need to make it where I can all summer servants easily and freely, but seeing some more reruns of these servants and some others that aren't lostbelt characters would be appreciated. And for them to continue to do these reruns of powerful characters. Comparatively to the year of castoria's release where if you didn't get one character you're basically screwed for the entire year waiting wise, they've definitely improved more nowadays. It was a huge turnoff of playing this game no matter what people said, having to wait that long for meta units was absolute disaster territory. I'm literally on my knees begging for them to give me a reason to use quick. Give us more supports so I can justify actually going for characters like louhi. Its been almost 7 years since we've gotten an anniversary character thats quick oriented. It took them 4 years to release a skadi update for summer. Its really frustrating to say the least that absolute monsters like caren, bazett, and medusa are present but I'd absolutely tell people unless they are your interests they arent worth rolling.

@@Jay-n8e4w Louhi being a GOOD unit doesnt detract from the issues quick has that she doesnt do fuckall about. If you bother to read, I never remotely said louhi was bad, I just said I can't justify investing into her because arts and buster have better card systems. Again, my secondary point was that we literally only have the 2 major supports. If you're jumping in to defend your unit, at least take the context thats actually being said.

Honestly, I think that, after playing many other more recent games, the number 1 priority should be implementing a auto battle/skip battle mechanic. I cannot stress how much better the experience is when you don't need to repeat a stage over and over again to farm. Just play the stage once and push a skip button to farm that stage in less than 2 seconds. Every other gacha game I have played/tried in the past two years has had some form of auto battle. Nikke, Blue archive, Girls Frontline 2, Princess Connect and to a lesser extent Arknights and Azur Lane. Farming should NEVER be manual in 2025.

The worst Bond CE that I have seen so far is Astolfo Saber. Increases own critical damage of Buster Cards by 100% for 3 turns and he only has 1 Buster card.....

Kinda crazy how Fgo makes so much money yet it’s there really isn’t anything to buy unlike other gacha games with skins ,battle passes, daily rewards, and bundles. Fgo it’s just sq which isn’t even a good deal.
