Starting the video over so I can listen while I type this. The original rendition of this song had a gripping hold on me in high school. I fell in love with the whole album/ep. I had no memories attached to Khalid other than ones I built upon my own experiences with myself. I used to listen to this song religiously in my sophomore year. I remember having it on repeat while sitting in math class. In this math class, there was a girl who I never thought twice about because it seemed as though we had nothing in common. I never spoke a word to her. We made eye contact a countable few times. I went about the rest of high school getting mixed up with other girls who I regret. Fast forward a couple years. She moved to Wyoming. We started texting on instagram during the semester leading up to my graduation. I fell in love for the first time just through the concept of everything she spoke and how she spoke. She shared themes that coincided with mine but ones that also differed in the most perfect ways. Turns out, she had a crush on me since middle school. We were never even friends, just very loosely acquainted. I ended up moving to Colorado after high school, I met up with her. We’ve been madly in love. We’ve had some massive ups and downs, due to my actions, but also due to hers. No one is perfect. But I promise you, if you are willing to stick through the hardest pains to overcome, it will all be worth it. I’ve been saving for a ring as we talk about marriage often. I plan on proposing next summer. I Love You more than you could believe. You’re perfect to and for me.
