No, it is not the same. Because by renting you pay for living in the house, this is halal. If you are sick or lose you job, you don't have debt. You could move in a new house. The life is short, you won't take your house with you, so don't fall in the trap of riba, the war against Allah swt.

Mos Amaze No it’s not, if you don’t pay a loan nothing will happen to you , your credit can get repaired if you don’t pay a loan back , you mentally keep yourself in slavery but not actual slavery, that’s kinda ignorant to say , I’m not sure how that works in other countries but in the United States absolutely nothing will happen to you if you don’t pay a loan back ( of course they’ll take back what ever you borrowed such as car or house )

He is right when he is talking about this system that Actually it's benefiting rich banks but he does not have proper solution. Very easy to say that keep renting through out your life. House is basic need. He is also wrong when giving example interest rate 15%. Now a days it's around 3.25. Which is also unfair but the interest you pay in that rate is less than the Rent you pay. Please bring leadership here give proper solution. Keep renting is not solution but a curse. Some time renting may be less curse than interest or something interest is greater curse than Renting when rates are high. When you are renting you are paying for your landlord mortgage. Now a days Rent is so high in Toronto Canada. Please give proper solution.

I am taking care of my children. My husband only employed. Since 2008 we are nothing earned but sometimes we are in minus. When you have more children you cannot live in 1 bd apartments. So you have to rent minimum 2 bedroom if you have boy and girl so 3 bd. How much cost now 3 bd apt minimum 2200. I have doubts that i could find it. Also landlords checking your credit score. If you don't have good credit score your case failed.your are not eligible to rent this house. What about income right now if u don't have US degree the best job for u is TaXi driver. But what about those who worked as home attend. Their income nothing with their expenses. Also another biggest problem with ur neighbors most of neighbors don't like kids. Little bit noise they complain to Super,landlord. Poor kids they are not like animal if you band it say sit as dogs cats sit. This is kids. You can not all time say be quite. Because neighbors could complain.I am very confuse. When you paying so high cost to rent but cannot live on it as you wish. To buy house you are never can earn money.

To answer your question leave the big cities and move to small City like Minnesota where we live. Jobs are available here. My sister has 3 kids and rented 2 bedrooms for 975 a month. Alhamdulillah they are doing fine. Her husband and my sister are working hard to save up money and buy a house in cash. So you have to leave unaffordable cities like new York California, Nevada and etc

Not collecting interest is in the Bible too. It's so sad in Muslim countries there is interest and generational dept. Here homes are $500,000 plus yet people at best make $20 an hour minus 1/3 for taxes. How can you get a home without mortgage? When you pay rent, you pay anthers mortgage plus profit. When you rent you are still paying a mortgage and you are at the mercy of the landlord. He can raise your rent, give you a reno evict, have neighbors that are far from halal. My kids know the smell of pot, hear loud music, hear domestic violence, and so forth. There was a police stand off and I was trapped in my house and my kids not allowed in. I didn't know where my autistic son was till 4:30. When there was slavery at least slaves had shelter and food. Now you earn minimum wage you need 3 full time jobs just to pay rent in Vancouver yet still need more money for food and expenses. The job I had I needed a car, so to get a run down beater I needed to work six months just pay for the car so I can work. I just don't know how to have a save home for my family without a mortgage. I just want something that's my families.

Taking interest (Riba) is bad (Haram). O.K. What about the value of the house purchased by the person through house loan double, trible etc during the period and make the person as a owner of a property? It is exactly happening in majority of the cases. Incase the house loan is not there millions of families in the world will not live in their own house. Failure to repay the loan and loosing the property is less common . So, loans and interests paid are not always haram or halal depending on the benefit or loss attained by the person.

if the owner of the property kicks you out, at least you ll have your money, which you saved by not paying mortgage which is usually higher than rental payments. in addition, i realized that mortgages create artificial demand for properties driving up home prices. consequently, less people can afford to buy houses. let's avoid riba brothers and sisters. And Allah knows the best.

Suppose if you rent a house, you pay 1000 USD per month. If you buy it on mortgage, for example, here in Russia you pay around 2000 USD per month. So you can save at least 1000 USD per month, invest it in yourself, your business, or do whatever you want. After some time you'll have enough money to build or buy your own house, inshAllah.

Banks allow u to reduce the interest rate by making u buy points as part of contract, What if the bank allow u to buy enough points to reduce your interest rate to zero, is it allowed in Islam? Banks offer points for us to buy mortgage based loans, may be some banks offer points for loans in general. Does anyone know if banks offer buying points to get zero percent interest loans. BTW, u pay off the bank their interest amount before they give u the loan amount. So there is zero percent interest rate during the life of the loan.

I have to disagree. Countries with foreign debt dont get their natural resourses confiscated by the creditor. At default, interest compunds, and a 'default penalty' is added, they are required to pay this. But yes it becomes much harder to pay bay.

I have a question, suppose i have bought a real estate property (that is below the market price) I took a $40,000 mortgage with $10,000 down payment (means total worth is $50,000). Now I have to pay $577 every month for mortgage. Now i've rent the house at $600 every month(that's the actual rent for the property). I'm paying the bank with that and getting $23 per month in my pocket. I will sell the property after 10 years with the market price, suppose $80,000. Now you can see, tenant paid the actual rent, I didn't lost any money from my pocket, And bank couldn't take my house. Now everyone is getting facility from it, none is is danger. So why it is haram?

Second there are plenty of verses in the Quran which say riba (usuary) is forbidden. Also the hadith is quite authentic and majority of the scholars agree with this. Second Revelation (Surah al-Nisa', verse 161) “And for their taking interest even though it was forbidden for them, and their wrongful appropriation of other people’s property. We have prepared for those among them who reject faith a grievous punishment (4: 161)”

@exposing world yes i agree with you, as Saitan also asked Allah, "Why i should bow down to Adam(as), as i am far superior than him?" His logic was right, but it was Allah's command, so should have obeyed that. So conclusion is, Allah knows the things far better than us. (don't get me wrong, I was just trying to find a "Cause" for mortgage being haram, as the "Exploitation" part is missing if we use the money properly.
