Thanks Ash. That video shows the side-to-side hair move very well. But of course it's only one move. You couldn't just do that for a whole song - there's much more to khaleeji dance than this. There are other hair moves, lots of travelling steps, ways of using the thobe, the arms, the head and so on. Also, social dance is one thing, but making a choroegraphy for audiences to watch is another. The trick is to stay true to the essence of the dance but still make it stage-worthy & interesting!

I Think the choreography is beautiful, feminine and extremely good. As it is a dance troupe and their interpretation and perhaps a fusion of Khaleegy, usually danced in the Gulf States, I think the music was complementary to the dance. No harm in it is there?. It is after all a group of performers and they are entertaining.

This is Iraqi music and thedance is a fusion of Iraqi Kawleyya and Khaleegy.

Can you point us to a video that you think shows the authentic dance? I'd love to see.

Oh okay. I did not know that . I have only seen one type and that is just the hair toss purely. Could you show me a link to the ones you are talking about?
@ash012012 жыл бұрын
Sorry I can not pate the link to the video for some odd reason. But here's how to find it; go onto Google and type ''khaleeji hair dance'' it is the fist video by beledibabe which shows how it is really done in the Arab world without any of the hip shaking and shimmies that others like to add. That is not how they are done.

that's not true, this is the work to bring folk on stage. do you really wanna see real folk on stage?! And by the way: did you know that Khaled is egyptian?

that is an example of what europeans do to arab folklore.. it looks nice, entertaining but not like the real thing at all
@lindorina79212 жыл бұрын
well , folk should be folk or at least near to it. this is mix of Iraqi and Khaleeji dance... the choreo is nice but its not as it should be. Inovation should be done in modern /fusion but not in such style.
@ash012012 жыл бұрын
This is not the proper traditional hair dance. Europeans need to stop trying to innovate Arab tradition.
