0:00 SSS Proves congruence, valid postulate If all the sides between both triangles are congruent, then the triangles are congruent 0:26 Is AAA a valid postulate? Is not a valid postulate, but it implies similarity Angles can be the same in both triangles with different lengths on sides (same shape, but not the same size) 3:21 Is SAS a valid postulate? Proves congruence, valid postulate If two adjacent sides and an angle between those adjacent sides are congruent between both triangles, then the triangles are congruent 6:03 Is ASA a valid postulate? Proves congruence, valid postulate If two adjacent angles and a side between those adjacent angles are congruent between both triangles, then the triangles are congruent 8:46 Is AAS a valid postulate? Proves congruence, valid postulate If two adjacent angles and a side not between those adjacent angles are congruent between both triangles, then the triangles are congruent. 11:30 Is SSA a valid postulate? Is not a valid postulate, SSA does not necessarily imply congruence nor similarity Not mentioned: HL Proves congruence, valid postulate Given 2 right triangles where the hypotenuse and a leg of each triangle are congruent, then the (right) triangles are congruent. Summary: -SSS, SAS, ASA, AAS are valid triangle congruence postulates -SSA is not a valid postulate (the way I remember that this is not a valid postulate is when you spell out the acronym backward, it's not a very nice word) -AAA is not a valid postulate, although if asked to prove similarity, AAA comes into play

Surprise on the little explanation of SSA: your drawing is simply false. Only true if you use the same sides but interchange the position, then you can form the two triangles that are not congruent or similar.

Triangles are congruent by SSA criterion. The angle which you drew when you were explaining SSA criteria was not equal to the angle drawn in the other triangle. If you take variable lengths of the second side and draw the same angle as the first triangle on it, then there will be one case when both the triangles will be congruent.
@ChandanSharma-wo7vs6 жыл бұрын
And what about Right angle - Hypotenuse - Side (RHS) criteria. You did not explain it.

I also think its congruent. There is only one angle that could hit the last point
@markrayne53825 жыл бұрын
@@spiderjump yes it is, as the angle increases so will the length of the line in order the reach the bottom line, likewise as the angle decreases the length of the line will become shorter, in either case this cannot happen as corresponding lines on both triangles must be congruent.

Two angles with the same AAA are called similar, a common word that everyone understand, then why two angles with the same SSS are called congruent, a word sounding weird and so uncommon that many people don't understand? This is one of the reasons many people don't like math or science because of such stink vocabulary.
