This leaves out the very important players as pharmacy benefit managers and how the cycle between manufacturers managers and insurance companies creates higher and higher prices for the consumer and more profits for the middle men.

Sal, can you do a video explaining the technical differences between generic and brand name medication? The FDA states that generics must have demonstrated 85-120% bioequivalency, but what exactly does this number refer to? The rate of entry into the bloodstream? The rate of clearance? All I'm able to gather is that they determine bioequivalence using some kind of log- transformed normal distribution...

What an incredibly uninspiring conversation! If you are asking questions, it means, you shut up and listen. If you want to interject all the time, why bother asking a question?

As doctor myself I find this market incredibly rigged and broken. No wonder costs are increasing exponentially with no efficiency attached. And I'm not referring specifically in US.

This is really missing so much information because Sal keeps cutting points short, trying to show he gets it before the point is made. PBMs, restrictions on negotiation, sunshine act, restrictions on generic drugs...barely mentioned or covered in detail. I'd love to see what Dr. Baker's original notes were actually trying to communicate in full from start to finish, I imagine it's less fragmented.

I agree with a lot of comments here. Had a difficult time focusing because the guest speaker was constantly getting interrupted. If that’s how it was to go, why he was invited in the first place?

Sal this is great information but you did not allow your guest speak.

What is the range of return on investment that pharmaceutical companies get from insurers (which pass on all the costs to the consumers)? What portion of the drug price is explained by R&D and what portion do marketing/advertising and shareholder profit represent? Two major questions where your guest was awfully quiet.
@Miss52503 жыл бұрын
The amount Drug Companies spend on R&D does not support the 100 million to Develop these drugs. Turns out the American Taxpayer is Subsidizing the R&D at our Colleges & Universities. Who then PATENTS the Drug they did not PAY to create.
