I thought the pacing of this video was perfect, but that's just me. I likes that he didn't spend tons of time waiting for him to write stuff out and I could focus on what he was saying vs trying to write it down. Great video!

Hill coefficient (nH) measures the degree of cooperativity between subunits that bind the ligand in multisubunit proteins

The hill equation is a function of ligand molecule, say X, such that it's output ranges from 0 to 1. In particular, it's an approximation of the *fractional saturation* which is a ratio of the number of occupied binding sites to the number of binding sites.

Are we assuming here that active sites are only binding to a specific substrate? (Because Hemoglobin has a greater affinity for CO than O2)

Hemoglobin is not an enzyme they just share the same allosteric inhibition concept

eh, 3 years later, but essentially it's because when calculating Hill's coefficient and you get a value of "n = 1" then, that protein that you're analyzing doesn't have any coop, essentially it's non-cooperativity. On the other hand, a value of N

how is non-cooperative a type of coopertivity. That makes no sense. it doesn't exist but it's still one of the three types.

I learned this in a 400-level biochem class which was the first and only biochem class, which was geared towards biology majors, I had to take during undergrad. So I think that may be the same in your case or perhaps you could have seen this in any other upper-level biochemistry course

how come the active site saturation doesn't increase linearly as concentration of substrate increases?

because the when the enzyme has more substrate bound to it it's not able to bind any more substrate to it so its ability to bind levels off

+Lindsay There were graphs for both of the proteins that he talked about. and those that say its too fast, they can reduce the speed of the video or pause and take notes.
