You explained something my modules can't. It literally asks me to hum at the frequency of an electric fan and write my observations. How am I supposed to write my observations when It didn't explain what concept of physics should I base my observations on? I don't want my answer to sound ridiculous and irrelevant to standing waves and so I searched this. Glad it helped a lot.

when the wave reflect from the boundry (i.e from rare to the denser medium)it reflects at angle of 180 so it should be a destructive interference ...so how the antinodes r formed ??

Uni Malik exactly this is the same question I'm asking
@pawankhanal80076 жыл бұрын
I can't wrap my head around it. Same problem
@rajaramanbaruah97986 жыл бұрын
Interference occurs only when the waves simultaneously pass through that point in the string, and since a wave before and after reflecting is never simultaneous, so therefore its not a destructive interference.
@MuhammadTahir-bl9uv4 жыл бұрын
Destructive interference does not occur. A wave is made up of crest and trough. Let's assume that crest is leading the trough, and therefore it will be reflected first by the anti node. When the crest is reflected. It is inverted. And the inverted form of crest is trough. And already, another trough was coming behind the crest. So two troughs reinforce each other.

Super awesome! Helped me grasp the constructive and destructive concepts a lot more! I also thought it might be nice to note, that the velocity of each harmonic is the same, because λ_n=2L/n ,f_n=nV/2L,and V=λf, so V_n=2L/n* nV/2L=λ_n f_n. I know you didn't talk about velocity so it probably wasn't relevant, I just thought that it was super interesting and cool!
