Wonderful discussion... .my long group retreat... taught me to accept just about every crazy thing. Exactly within the first hour of closing the boundary (France) a lovely young couple walked in through the fields and set up their lavish picnic.... 😂

When I was younger on the spiritual path I wanted Siddhis. Today I understand that this very desire is a distraction and stemmed from ego and a desire for power. I believe that those who want or have Siddhis and use them as a show of power are not really doing their spiritual work. Today I am happy that there are no siddhis distracting me from the path and when necessary the abilities appear organically. Thanks for this amazing share. I learned so much!

I’m so happy to have found these talks. My mother is 95 and coming to the end of her life. She is in UK and I am in US what practice May I do to help her and others at the end of life?

I am performing fire pujas as a form of burning away of afflictions. During the offering ceremony I give rise to Bodhichita and dedicate it to the benefit of all sentient beings . Then I let go and just enjoy watching the flames . As a visualisation I contemplate releasing frozen starlight so it can return to the depth of space again . I am burning beautifully complex arrangements consisting of aromatic herbs , all aspects of bamboo as well as various precious substances including special wood pieces .. Adding to that I offer peanuts, bird food and other little snacks for my backyard wildlife . Then , when the bamboo is reduced to glowing embers I dust them with dried mugwort , fig leaves and catnip powder as an additional smoke offering . Kind of like a tasty desert for the fire element . This makes for interesting billowing smoke clouds that kind of weightlessly rise to embrace the stars above . You can also use this for fire divination practice . Kind of like a Freedom of information request . It works very well for me . Be prepared for the most amazing spontaneous insights, ideas and visions .... My mom is in Germany in a nursing home, I am in the US , so I can relate to your situation . BTW I did VA retreats with Lama Dawa and learned the basics of Reiki from Kunzang ..... Just in case you were wondering . Since nobody else had replied yet I thought I would send you a few tips on what I am doing . Wishing you the best of luck .....

I would highly recommend reading “living is dying” by Dzongsar khyentse Rinpoche. It has a simple step by step practice guidance for the dead and the dying. I hope it helps you and your mother. Hugs!
