I'd love to have this kind of robot as a kit where you build it by yourself. So you would get just the parts and PDF file for instructions. Kind of robotics kit for adults (compared to Lego mindstorm which are a nice system but the processing power is seriously limited compared to real Raspberry Pi).

Do you get the source code for the whole system? That is, can you recompile everything run from the SD card? This is obviously using standard Raspberry Pi so the SD card has prebuilt linux distribution but if you don't have source code for all the programs running on that Linux system, you end up with much more limited system than what could be possible. I would assume the system is running some variant of Debian and vision detection is running with some code written in C or C++ - is the source code for those parts available and what's the license?

Given what this robot can do, is there anything much more advanced like this say for about 4 x the price and also AI capabilities to match - also is there anything that has hands that work? Something that is for example like Boston Dynamics but a smaller/cheaper version of them?

This robot cannot actually walk on two feet. The bottom of the feet is wide enough to allow standing without actual bipolar walking cycle. And it seems that the servos are too slow to implement bipolar walking if you modified the feet to be smaller.

Anything with $90 claiming to be the same thing is a scam because the servos alone in this robot cost way more. I think it has 14 bigger servos and 2 smaller ones. The price for bigger servos seems to be around $18 and smaller ones are probably a bit less.
