They don't need to be taught how to hunt. Even though they were born in captivity they r still wild animals and will have wild instinct. Watch kevin richardson videos, there is one video of meg hunting while she is out on their walk. And she was born in caltivity.

Not every lions can survive in the wild.... but there are many zoo's taking advantage just to make money

First off. Male lions don't hunt gazelles. Second, lions in captivity don't hunt at all.

that's my point - what's the point having hunters in a cage if they never hunt?... in the zoos cubs play at hunting and practice hunting all the time - but they will never really hunt in their lifetime... they are only there for the pleasure of the zoo visitors very sad

Actually, the purpose of a zoo is to protect the Animals and make sure that species won't go extinct. They allowed visitors after a while so they would have enough money to take care of the animals. Most of these animals have also now been born in this environment, so I'm sure they're used to it and probably happy. They still let them hunt. In most zoos for hunters, they hide meat around their cage so they keep their natural hunting senses.

Ravener yes ur right. I dont like animals suffer , e.g. being forced to perform cheap tricks in circus and abused by circus owners ... but being kept in zoos like this one, its great for these animals: they are well fed, can create social bonds, have quite a decent space for enrichments etc. If i was born a lion in my next life i would rather be in these zoos than in the wild. In the wild, they might be poached and 80% of their cubs are attacked or eaten by other predators. The number of big cats, such as lions, has reached a dangerous level. Keeping them in the decent zoos like this is a good way to conserve them so their bloodline can continue.

Not all zoos are same... many zoo's keeping animals to entertain human beings. Very few protecting the animals.

They should have acres to roam if you keep for the people to stare at them constantly… how would you like your family pinned in there no out until you die. You better hope you don’t come back as lion pinned up in a zoo……

They. R boring? They r bored as hell because the cub has no siblings or cousins to play with and the father has no mate anymore!! What do u expect them to do when they're locked up!!
