Namaste, We are Shirish and Pooja
and Welcome to a Kharvas Special Episode of ‪@RedSoilStories‬
It was a beautiful early morning and Pooja was fetching water from the well, While returning home Mai (our aunt) told Pooja that their buffalo delivered a baby calf last night and Uncle has called Pooja to give her some "Chick" ( colostrum or buffalo's first milk after delivery ) to prepare the "Kharvas".
Kharvas is a traditional Maharashtrian dish often prepared to celebrate the birth of new born calf. It needs first milk after delivery also known as colostrum which is given by lactating buffalo/cow during first 2-3 days of delivery.
Pooja returned home, told me this good news and soon went to get the "Chick" to prepare the Kharvas.
Mai had told Pooja that the new born calf is white in color so they decided to name him "Bhura" ( the white one). Pooja was so excited to play with Bhura rather than getting the chick to prepare Kharvas.
She got the Chick from uncle and after playing with Bhura she returned home and started Preparing the Kharvas.
It to the whole day to make the Kharvas. I had went to market and while returning I brought Mai and Uncle with me to enjoy the Kharvas.
Later in the evening all of us enjoyed the Kharvas along with Raja and Mowgli. Raja still looked upset as he didn't get the fish today also.

पूर्वी माहेरी दुधवाला घरच्या दुधाचा चिक वर्षातून एक दोनदा चिक आणून द्यायचा.तेव्हा खरवस खायची मजा होती.पण हल्ली पिशवीतील दुधाच्या काळात ह्या आनंदाला मुकावे लागतेय.ताईंनी अगदी बर्फी सारखे खरवस बनविले.छान वाटले.👌👌

I have recently started following your videos. They are just par excellence. Very well done and thoroughly researched. I love kharvas but always feel bad that a young calf is deprived of its mother's milk. We know how important colostrum is for any young infant, be that human or animal. Wish there was another way to make it without depriving the calf.😢 this is by no means a criticism of your video. Pl don't take it otherwise. 🙏

We understand your concern but the fact is colostrum is taken in very small quantities and kharvas is prepared to celebrate the birth of the new calf. Secondly if the calf drinks too much of this colestro than it's requirement, it can die. These are the facts from local people and are followed from centuries. 🙂

कोणतीही रेसिपी दाखवताना त्या पदार्थांमध्ये घातलेल्या वस्तूची नावे सांगत जा, तुम्ही रेसिपी खूप छान दाखवता पण घातलेल्या वस्तूंची नावे समजत नाहीत निदान ठराविक तरी😊

घर पूर्ण नही दाखवत फक्त रेसिपी दाखवतात घराच्या बाहेरील भाग आहे आणि mr आहेत की कोण समजत नाही कारण गळ्यात मंगळसूत्र आणि पायात जोडव्या नाहीत आणि शिवाय घर कसे आहे हेच समजत नाही
