Thank goodness for Liszt Transcriptions, who enabled through his seven year tour through every hamlet in Europe and Russia, giving over a thousand concerts for those unfortunate, who never had the chance to go hear symphonies or opera..works from Bach to Chopin...

BTW, tone and color are not the only metrics in musical expression. Articulation, tempo, agogic accenting, rubato, phrasing are but a few important components of it!

Very impressive and some beautiful things - but this staccato, senza pedale effect for the Erlkonig's voice is simply impossible! As usual, the calculated facial expressions are unbearable.
