I thought Khayal didn't really emerge until the late Mughal period, or the 18th century AD. Its main progenitors being Niyamat Khan Sadarang and his milieu. That would be some 400 years after the time of Amir Khusrao. The sitar and tabla are also from the late Mughal period; and not as some traditional accounts, created by Amir Khusrao.

I think it was Gopal Das but not Nayak as mentioned by Zakir ji who originally from Odisha . Prabandha Sangita is similar to Udra padhati gayan style or today's Odishi style. This may be called as the creator of Ghajal style too. Experts may put light on it.

This documentery is no doubt informative but its absolutely incomplete in many ways. The script of this documentary film is not properly been consulted. Lots of important information is lacking which is ridiculous and shocking. It shoud be rectified as early as possible.
