Unfortunately I’ve noticed there has also been a lot of hate coming from Thailand towards VannDa as well. I still see it all over different comment threads. The world loves VannDa. His fame will only blow up even bigger because now they want to know more about us, about VannDa, about Cambodia and our culture. Respect 🙏🏼 to the Thais who don’t hate, insult, and look down on Khmers. People need to understand that if Thailand went through even half the atrocities Cambodia faced, would they have survived and endured as they have? It’s not fair to compare so that’s why when Thais compare, we compare as well because there are many of us that do not believe Thailand is better. Cambodia has just been through unfortunate tragic events and misfortune. Khmers are only comparing now because they’ve been hearing Thais do that for decades while putting us down. Like VannDa said, it’s time to rise and rise we will. I have relatives who are Surin still living in a part of Thailand that was once part of the Khmer empire, because our mutual ancestors never left the land when it was taken from them. So it really affects us all when Thais compare and insult us despite having taken what was ours to begin with and then use that against us when comparing. It’s an extremely sensitive subject and to deny the facts of our history is an even bigger slap to the face and to our ancestors. This is why I don’t know if we can truly move on together until the facts are mutually accepted on both sides, because that is the only way in my opinion. There are still so many bitter emotions and resentment carried down for generations. Of course, I always still wish for the best and I pray that we can overcome this. However, the correct history needs to be taught first in order for people to accept and be able to move on. Thank you to the Thais who understand this and still show respect despite our history. 🙏🏼
You are so right. VannDa was NOT one of the “featured artists”… he was one of the MAIN artists, even though there were Thais that considered him as just “some Cambodian boy who was featured” 🙄… They also claimed that this song was not produced by VannDa and said that VannDa begged them to let him collab with them… 🙄 so sick of their shishh. Anyway, VannDa’s part was the best anyway and I’m glad he didn’t rap about ‘non-sense’ (bragging about luxury goods and drugs) and actually mentioned and praised our great country and our amazing Angkor Wat. He always have the best meaningful lyrics and he is ORIGINAL. He has a great rapping voice and doesn’t try to look or sound like anyone else like… some of these others. I’m so proud of our VannDa. 🇰🇭🙏🏼♥️

When I posted this 👆🏼I had already read several negative comments by Thais on other videos about VannDa so I bluntly addressed those negativities with my truth and how I feel about this track. Of course, some did not like the Angkor Wat reference belonging to Cambodia that VannDa made, so they disrespectfully dissed his part and role, which resulted in us brutally but honestly expressing how we feel about the Thai rappers as well. This was my first time hearing them and I wouldn’t have known of them if it weren’t for VannDa. And for some reason, they get offended by that even though it’s the deadasss truth. I’m not used to their style of rapping but they all sounded good overall as a unit. I applaud each one of them… Fhero, 1Milli, & Sprite. I really hope the Thais can stop their disrespect, otherwise these hostilities will continue to linger for more generations to come, because we Khmers will never forget our history for the sake of making our neighbors happy. That would be a slap-in-the-face to our ancestors if we allowed our children to never learn. If I’m ever “disrespectful”, you bet it’s because they came for me and my people first. I am not Surin as that other person assumed but my blood relatives on my father’s maternal side are. Their nationalities are now “Thai” but they’re still Khmer by blood and I bet many other Thais have Khmer blood in them too and don’t even realize it, but they’re fighting and competing with us every step of the way. Even tho they accepted their nationalities, many still know the truth. We do not have hate in our hearts but when Thais view us in this manner, it will only open up old wounds and resentment… affecting our ability to communicate with one another without being on the defense all the time. That’s what’s happening now. Those who are allowing themselves to be offended by the truth will never have peace within themselves as well as those around them. Respect for respect. And if they get offended by the truth, then that’s a personal issue they have with themselves and not the person speaking the truth. Just because you feel that your country is bigger in size… it doesn’t mean we will back down when you bully us. We will no longer tolerate it.
