Jeroboam met prophet Ahijah when he was doing errand for the king and told him that YHVH is going to give him authority over the 10 of the 12 tribes of Israel. He was told that wont occurr in the reign of Solomon but that will be in the reign of his son Rehoboam of which it did. I think when Solomon learn of the prophecy he wanted to kill Jeroboam but he fled to exile and comeback when he was no more. Pastor is in error when he says they were divided under the reign of king Solomon.
