We are very proud for this special New Year, that was invented by the Khmer scholars, sciences and cultural experts more than 1000 years ago, we should therefore be dressing well in honor of our ancestors. We knew very well, we do not copy from anyone or from the western world.

More than 1000 years ago our ancestors celebrated the New Year topless...😂 Look at the statues and arts they left behind on the walls of our ancient temples. To advance we have to go with the flow while keeping our tradition and culture intact. Just my opinion.

Many people did not know the history of this Holy Khmer New Year and could say that we copied this from other people.

@@TheChandhi there are other nations that celebrate their New Year the same as us, I.e. Thai & Laos. They also share similar culture and traditions.

Siam or today call Thai and Lao were the former parts of the Khmer Empires, they therefore had the same culture and beliefs as ours, only have different language dialects.
