After a marathon 10 years of renovation, planning and installation the Kunstkammer Wien was finally reopened on 1.3.2013. Some of the most fascinating objects in the collection are the table automatons.
With the double-headed eagle on the flags, the Emperor on board as helmsman and a marching band accompanying him into battle and extolling his glory, this ship symbolises the power of the emperor and his empire. No one should stand in the way of a ship named “The Double Eagle” as the engraved verse on the hull tells us, or in the way of its owner, Emperor Rudolf II. This is a masterpiece of mechanical and human artistry, which aims to astonish and demonstrate superiority.

This is one of the most impressive things I have ever seen. Unbelieveable that this is 500 years old. Incredible.

Sounds like a perfect Bond-villain way to off someone (who's not James Bond).

Probably the closest we'll come to hearing a recording of medieval music.

It actually _is_ a recording of Renaissance music.
