I was lost once in a city and asked a gas station employee for directions. Even though I was in the area I was looking for(but didn’t know it at the time) he gives me a detour of directions. Then a shady looking guy in the gas station “offers” to help and tells me to just walk down that road. I looked to where he was pointing and it might as well have been an alley. There are so many predators in this country just waiting to take advantage of you if you don’t know any better. I don’t know why cops don’t do sting operations to put these sort of ppl away and send a clear msg to them. It’s not like it’s hard to spot these scum bags. She was asking the lead for the volunteer operation where her mom could pick her up. I asked if she had any pepper spray so she could walk on her way back and fortunately she said she had her taser. Another young girl who was volunteering who was close to her age offered to walk her on her way back to meet her parents. I’m so happy everybody was prepared. By the way just before we all broke up there was some higher type of apartment building. Around the walkway from the units a guy seriously knocked out his girlfriend hard enough to see her neck go back at about a 90 degree angle. An elderly black man tried to go up to be a hero. He walked back down and one of us was nursing him back to health because he was really beaten up and covered with blood. Just earlier that afternoon a black girl from that area was sprinkling some kind of white powder around on purpose as if it was an accident. (Fentanyl?) She got in a heated argument with another administrator for the volunteer food drive. Skid Row in LA is one of the most depressing places you can imagine. If you end up there it’s probably because you made life choices that ended up ruining your life in the long run. If you’re passing through there, you’re 100% not safe especially if you’re alone. I’ve never been in the armed forces, but just don’t volunteer there if you were in the army/marines/etc. during wartime because it’ll give you serious Iraq war flashbacks. It’s that awful and depressing!

Yeah, this is why as a young woman in a city I don't know there's no way I'm going to go on a little sightseeing tour by myself while I wait for my next flight.
