Amazing that they took a collection of World musical influences, added a deep metronomic pocket with a steady as a rock drummer, and some deceivingly simple sounding but virtuosic guitar playing and are now touring the world. And, that they originated in Houston, TX.

Not really too surprising that they came out of Houston, as the city is made up of a collection of Mexican, Central American, South American, African, Middle Eastern, South Asian, Southeast Asian and many more distinct communities. It's probably one of the most culturally diverse cities in North America, if not the world. You hear all of those influences in Khruangbin.

Drummer IS the pocket. His rhythms time the GPS satellite system. Guitarist is all over the place. Bass is always out of the pocket. But her legs and high heels are in the pocket. And audience is all doped out. And they have “international influences.” So all is forgiven.
@ProbablyTooLoud2 жыл бұрын
I understand everything you just said. Apparently the audience doesn’t.

Man you have missed out. Repetitive music is body music. It's those rhythms our previous evolutionary iteration were jumping round a fire to.
@raygunn10832 жыл бұрын
Devils advocate; They're too repetitive. There, I said it.
@FlipTheScriptRadio2 жыл бұрын
I agree. They are kind of a one trick pony, but they are decent at what they do. I can listen to them in small doses. The cover thing is a little hacky, but the live audiences dig it, makes the shows fun.
@jimbo4162 жыл бұрын
Spot on. Same endless twiddling. No accounting for taste I guess, but this “music” is desperately bland.
@vwheato2 жыл бұрын
Whatever. BUT- From the energy of the audience, Kbin seems to be morphing into a cult phenomenon- the Khru- and I for one am all there for it.
@drumduder2 жыл бұрын
Yeah right. Try to play a hypnotic groove on an instrument. Try playing in the pocket for an endless amount of time. This isn’t a loop machine, it’s three human-beings synching their brains and fingers. Fucking groovy.
@raygunn10832 жыл бұрын
@@drumduder Uh, yeah. An endless beat. It's called repetition. Anyway, I'm glad for you.
