random tip: when reversing if you push down one of the L or R buttons (for adjusting the side mirrors) the selected mirror will tilt to help you with reversing (helps avoid scratching your wheels on curbs).

Thanks Derek - really helpful review. Lots of reviews out there are UK based and cover the eNiro 2, 3 or 4+. Its handy to get a nice overview of what this car actually looks like in Ireland given that there's only one trim on sale here. I guess the Irish model is a 4+ (minus the leather seats)?

Hi Derek, nice review. I have an eniro since July 2019 with 46k km done. It's been great. Very usable range and a good build quality and usable cabin space. Loads of space for 2 kids in the back and boot is ok not massive.The range makes it very easy to live with I almost forget it's electric. Someone asked about the radar sensor. Haven't had any issues with it getting not or damaged so far. The display is a bit small but I don't care too much. I have heard that some of the new models have an expensive non-conductive (blue) coolant that is very expensive to change at 45k km intervals. Apparently my car has the cheap normal coolant (green) I have not asked the dealer about this yet. Overall very happy with it. I think there is a new 2022 model eniro being developed which will be cheaper than the EV6 it will have 400v technology rather than 800v in EV6.

Great review as always, Derek. Sounds like North America's loss is Europe's gain... it seems the e-Niro/Niro EV would have been a popular compact SUV here if Kia had chosen to sell it outside of ZEV states. Fingers crossed for wider availability on the EV6 and Hyundai's IONIQ 5.

Thanks for the comment. It baffles me sometimes to hear which EVs you don't have over there.
@plugandplayEV3 жыл бұрын
@@NevoEVReviewIreland They sell here, but only in select states and in the hundreds a month, rather than the thousands you'll see from the widely available Bolt EV, and more recently the Mach-E + just released ID.4 (probably, as it's available nationwide and being pushed hard). It's a combination of limited battery availability and prioritizing Europe to meet the stricter emissions standards.

Is that the old 2019 version? 2020 onwards has a refreshed interior I though. Bigger screen, middle vents under the screen, and all in all a better looking finish.

Does it have heated rear seats? i'm seeing conflicting comments about this, and the kia.ie brochure doesn't mention it, but i think there was a facelift in 2020? its also hard to find specifics for the Irish variant. Thanks.

1. That 'radar sensor' at the front seems uniquely placed to get broken/damaged. How much is a replacement? 2. Kudos to your channel. I'm new to EV's (don't have one yet) but you're the only channel that mentions the 'rake & reach' of the steering wheel. Which is important to driver comfort, imho.
@NevoEVReviewIreland3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment and question Shane. I'll reach out to Kia on Monday to ask regarding the replacement price. Appreciate the Kudos, the reach and rake is important to me too. I try to cover it in most of my reviews.
@shanelewis85563 жыл бұрын
@@NevoEVReviewIreland Thanks but I don't really want to know the replacement price. I was just thinking that in the 'old days', a bumper was a metal bar that was designed to be, err, bumped into. Cheap to replace. Nowadays, a new bumper probably costs approx €2k! Add in that sensor and it could get very expensive.
@anxiousappliance3 жыл бұрын
@@shanelewis8556 On the upside - modern bumpers actually provide protection.

Would of sold more if Kia provided more. They were shockingly in short supply back when the eniro and Kona were released. Kona sold loads, but the Niro is far superior.
@NevoEVReviewIreland3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment Matthew. Yes, there was a serious demand supply issue when first released. A lot of Kona owners have gotten used to the smaller form factor.

Potential buyers beware: all 3 cars on this platform are FWD, something that’s dying in EV world. I drove eSoul back to back with VW ID.3 and the driving dynamics in corners make MEB based cars far superior for any spirited driver. Please compare before you plunge into near obsolete tech - or expect good deals on FWD models in the next 2-3 years 😎

Derek I’m a Taxi Driver in Cork City and I’m undecided between the Kia eNiro or the Toyota Corolla Hybrid.I’m afraid that I will get a Taxi fare at the end of the night going to County Cork or beyond and I will not be able to find a charging point to charge the car, I can’t say to the passenger hang on for an hour while I charge the car before we start out on our journey and I afraid of been stranded in my the middle of the night, I would be grateful if you could advise me.
@NevoEVReviewIreland3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question Anthony. The eNiro would make a great taxi in my opinion. The worst case scenario could happen but unlikely. Chargers are all 24hrs unlike petrol stations so running out if fuel could also happen. The Kia is one of the best with it's range estimation. The government grant now for taxi drivers won't be around forever so I'd definitely look into it and take one for a test drive. I know you won't regret it.
