Getting better tires solved some of the traction issues of my k5 gt. I opted with some continental dw 06 plus and let me tell you the stock pirellis do not do the car justice. The grippier tires do offset some of traction despite the lack of LSD. Nice review by the way.

This is helpful info and I appreciate you sharing. I would love to drive one with grippier tires for sure because traction aside, I really like this car.

Purchased a 2024 GT (non GT1 package) and this is a great sport sedan. Looking forward to our long drive to Toronto. Yes, “it is a KIA” and I smile when I say it. The K5 GT reminds me of the outgoing Stinger, but without the AWD. KIA should add AWD, but not a deal breaker for me.

Good review. Everything you said about the car is true. They need to put lsd on the GT just like the EN.

I have a 2022 K5 GT and I adore my car. Contrary to your takeaway, I drive in Sport+ mode most of the time (i.e. unless there's rain or snow on the ground...or my wife's in the car). I dont like the traction system doing what im comfortable doing for myself. Will this thing spin the tires? To a frustrating degree! Until you learn how to deal with it. You can't floor it from a dead stop, but you can do 1/4 throttle thru 1st, 1/2 throttle into 2nd, on you're way to flooring it. I have often taken off, only to look down and realize I'm already pushing 70mph. Also, *IF* you put it in Sport+ mode *AND* the transmission has had its software updates, taking off will *not* result in "ho hum" shifts (or however you described it). The 2nd to 3rd shift in mine will chirp the tires and push my head back. This is a properly fun car that, honestly, does want for a limited slip differential and stickier tires. I'm not many miles away from pursuing the latter. Lastly, every car I've ever owned has had what I call the "natural highway cruising speed" - the speed it seems to gravitate to and feel most comfortable cruising at without really trying. That speed from this car is roughly 92 -95. And, even at that speed...drop it a gear and you'll still take off!
