Adjusting the brake light switch on a 2006-2014 Kia Sedona/Hyundai Entourage. Also alot of heavy mouth breathing.

I know this is 3 years later, but, thank you good sir. This is exactly what just happened to us. Even though I am a fat 50 yr old I was able to get under there and fix the switch. My sincere thanks to you for posting this vid.

Thank You sir! You kept the vid simple and to the point! Very helpful. This just happened to me a day ago and your vid was at the top! I'm very appreciative for this "str8 to the point vid"!

Dude. I don't normally post these, but thanks so much, man. I couldn't figure out what on earth was happening. Even though the little buffer thing on was a bit different looking than yours, it was literally the same scenario. Saw your video. Went to the driver's side. Found an unusual looking little piece of rubber, and fit it back on. Fixed. 😁

Thanks! Got it done. If you are butter fingered like me... I lost the pad immediately - -It was in the hollow of the brake lever.

2009 kia sedona broke today. plastic part was on the floor board right where your was. i super glued that plastic part that broke. worked like a charm

Should I super glue or buy a new part? Would new part work without the plastic doohickie thing. I gotta fix this bastard ASAP and cannot spend a bunch. Fixed income and old. Any advice appreciated.

Mine's still working to this day without the plastic piece. However, if money is an issue, call a local Kia dealer and give them your VIN. It was a recall on these vans and they'll repair it for free.
@jhobopopo2yo2092 ай бұрын
@@TheRealChaseRhodes I did and was told there was no active recall on this issue. I also submitted my VIN on the Kia recall site myself and saw none. I am not sure why.

Quick tip when you are doing this.. if you turn the engine on you can push the brake pedal all the way to the floor that will give you alot more room to get to the nut on the back side of the switch. You just need a stick or something to hold the brake pedal down

I had the same problem today, November 13, 21. And thanks to you, looking at this video, I was able to fix it. Thanks

Thanks for the video. My cruise control set is not working and videos have shown that it could be break switch so I will try this adjustment cause it doesn’t look like the plunger is in all the way when brake isn’t pressed.

That's exactly what I just found on my floorboard.

6/05/21 I strongly assume my '09 Hyundai Genesis's Brake light switch has stopped working due to all my rear brake lights not turning on when i brake. There was a recall on many Hyundais for faulty brake switches, my vehicle was one of them. I bought a new brake light switch, i just need to install it P.s yes i checked my fuses and bulbs.

Lol. Same problem here. Found the broken pieces. About to go fix it. Thanks.

Does the aftermarket brake switch address this plastic spacer issue? Mine has done the same thing and I must fix it today. Would the new part work or should I just readjust the old? HELP!!
@TheRealChaseRhodes2 ай бұрын
I only had to readjust mine.

Thanks for the video! My 2007 Kia van is also doing this with the lights… I read that it also could be the rubber brake pedal stopper. Do you know where that is located under there? I will try that and then maybe the switch👍 Thank you

This is actually a factory recall. You might hit up your local dealer and see if the recall applies to your VIN number. If so, they'll do the work and replace any necessary parts for free. I just did mine before I got the recall notice in the mail.

Mine did the same. Didn't see this in time. I super glued a stack of 3 pennies to my pedal and taped them in place. I guess I'll do this if it ever falls off haha

How did you remove the plastic bottom panel. I'm having a hard time removing mine
@TheRealChaseRhodes2 жыл бұрын
It should just be the 2 screws and then prying it out to release it from the clips. That, and disconnecting any plugs for buttons/switches. It's not actually necessary to remove any panels to do this though. It only opens up a small space that you can look through. The main reason I took them off was so I could see what I was doing without my head being in the way of the camera. There's actually WAY more visibility from below.

Ty for this video. This just happened to me today before work before I saw this I went and bought a new battery 🤣 at least it's an easy fix lol
@TheRealChaseRhodes2 жыл бұрын
Glad I could help. A fresh battery is always nice. I have to say a little prayer every time I start my truck because the battery is from 2015.

The plunger on my switch seems like it's actually lining up with the hole from the stopper retainer.
@TheRealChaseRhodes Жыл бұрын
That kinda sounds like something might be bent out of place. I never was able to find a replacement for that plastic piece, but I found out after I fixed mine that it's actually a manufacturer recall. So if you go to a dealership, they'll fix it for free.
