What is difference in engine noise for 3 cylinder engine and 4 cylinder engine Please comment which is less on long last

Hi, 3 cylinder engines are a little bit more noisier than a 4 cylinder engine. This is because, manufacturers nowadays, try to produce cars with 3 cylinder engines,as they are cheaper, and lighter,and they produce less friction compared to 4 cylinder engines(so maintenance and production cost is low). But, inorder to match with the power of 4 cylinder engines, manufacturers try to make 3 cylinder engines more powerful. This results in increased stroke length of 3 cylinder engines, giving more volume of air and fuel mixture. And since 3 cylinder engines have a 120 degree firing order(the engine fires 1 cylinder when the crankshaft turns 120 degree) - all these makes it a little more noisier. On the other hand, 4 cylinder engines have a balanced firing order(engine fires 1 cylinder when the crank shaft turns 90 degree). And the voluke of air fuel mixture in the cylinder is lesser. So it produces less noise. But, 3 cylinder engine noise is not a disturbing noise. Nowadays, every car manufacturer maintains proper engine isolation and NVH levels, so that the driver and passenger is not bothered much by the engine noise. Also, 3 cylinder engines are cheaper, and more fuel efficient, compared to 4 cylinder engines. But,4 cylinder engines are more powerful and more refined. So, you can choose one,based on your choice(power versus mileage)

Hi, Out of Urban Cruiser and Sonet, Sonet is a better car(overall). Even though both the vehicles have similar dimensions, Urban Cruiser has better Space Management(the cabin feels more spacious and airy, compared to Sonet). But, Sonet has a bigger boot space, higher ground clearance, better engine options and gearbox options, more safety measures, more useful functional and entertainment features, better Warranty and wide variety of variants across different price ranges.

I found that Sonet Htx has two problems. 1. The roaring sound while starting, which is like starting an old Tata Indica. Sound and discomfort at the first three gears is disturbing. My dealer says, it is due to the turbo engine. Surely I did not expect this. I wanted a silent start. 2. The mileage is about 13-14. I have just done my first service at 600km. I do not expect much improvement. Or should I?
