I really love Carsguide reviews, but you should post more often, compared to other Aussie YT car channels!

Do you get a charging wall that can go to your house so you can charge the car at a house orsomething

Any 3rd row airbags this time?
@johnjones57842 жыл бұрын
Nope. I was interested until I found out no air bags for the third row which is a shame. The third row is for kids yet no air bag? We have children who would definitely love to sit in the third row, but with no air bags I do not feel comfortable buying it despite all the other positive attributes of the car.

One of the best PHEV reviews I've seen. The car definately peaked my interests, but it sounds like the Outlander still provides a better engine setup, if not as premium as the Kia. I would be interested to know how the engine goes when the battery is out? Can it still do hybrid mode like a Toyota?

Outlander is more like ev but less efficient. It is series hybrid.

Good plugin car but overprice. Government should give more supports for this type of cars and make them more affortable.
@SirGregory3 жыл бұрын
Without government incentives for PHEV and electric cars the return on investment is never going to be there. What other reasons are there to spend the extra money? Fuel security perhaps. Those in the UK with PHEV and electric are laughing during the fuel crisis. Other than that? Well, there is the serenity. Some will value that more highly than others.

If you drive less than 50-70km a day, you rarely pay for fuel. Prices are always reducing. Naysayer.
@SirGregory3 жыл бұрын
@@zoltrix7779 Yep, but how long does it take for the fuel saving to pay off the extra cost of the PHEV. I'd pay the extra for the silence and responsiveness of Hybrids, PHEVs and electric. But with some government incentives the move away from fossil fuel would be faster.

Should have been a straight Hybrid like Toyota Not sure about the plug in Hybrid
@rsoul72823 жыл бұрын
Why would you not? If you aren’t driving a regular hybrid then the batteries are just sitting there decaying. Plus all they are doing in normal service is recovering wasted energy in braking and downhill driving. Plug in is far superior.

@@rsoul7282 I would like to drive by electric more than petrol I would like to prefer the petrol engine to kick in to charge the battery and then switch off When I go out for a drive into the country I would like to see batteries limit to 800klm

@@wayneyoung146 which is precisely how a plug in hybrid behaves, considering that the batteries aren’t so reliant on the petrol engine to charge them.

PHEV's like this have bigger batteries (14ish KWH) than "self charging hybrids" of Toyota's (1-2KWH). This allows you to run on full electric for a certain distance (in this case around 50km) without using any drop of fuel. You also don't fully use up that battery and it runs in "hybrid" mode once battery levels reaches 20ish percent. So you only use around 11KWH and leaving 2-3 KWH (same as a self charging hybrid) to run in hybrid mode. Think of PHEV as in between a "Self Charging" Hybrid and a Battery Electric. Gas -> Self Charging Hybrid -> PHEV -> Battery Electric P.S. there is also a straight up hybrid version of this like the Toyota's, but PHEV'S are increasingly becoming more desirable. Imagine for most of the work week in the city you never have to use gas. And only would need so during longer trips in the weekends. Say your daily travel is less than the battery's capacity (50ish km for this Sorento) then you would never have to gas up again until you go out of the city for whatever. And when you do you still have the efficiency of a "straight up, self charging hybrid" whereas with a straight up hybrid even if it is efficient you will still be using some amount of gas (petrol)

"You'll need a very specific lifestyle for this vehicle, namely somewhere to charge it at home". Seriously? This is a family SUV, 95% of potenial buyers will have somwhere to charge it.
@rsoul72823 жыл бұрын
Why would you choose a vehicle that didn’t give you the ability to charge your on board batteries? Lunacy. Until electric vehicles reach the goldilocks zone which will happen very soon, appreciate cars like this.
@zoltrix77793 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about, its a plugin hybrid, after you run down the initial plugin charge it operates as a regular hybrid.

Interior is so ugly. Exterior looks pretty good, the stupid bit on the C pillar and front guards looks horrible. The "Dial" shifter is just silly, should be a smaller lever that moves in the traditional directions of forward and back. The type 2 socket is the most popular? Its THE standard, only cars that don't have them are the first gen before it came the standard.
