As a mid-size five-seater SUV, the Kia Sportage is a rival to the Nissan Qashqai and Hyundai Tucson. Available with either petrol or diesel engines - but no hybrid option at present - it represents solid value for money, not least thanks to its seven-year warranty. The interior on the GT Line is much better, the front end is kinda growing on me, plus the the top spec model is at a good price point that's why they sell so many plus lots of extras.

Considering how popular this car will be with uk buyers, the review was a little to brief. Worth spending a bit longer on the cars that people will be interested in. That said, I prefer the Tucson but wouldn't go for either until they develop a better Diesel engine range.

I think the mpg figures depends on if youve figured and sussed the car out, these people probably accelerate hard an brake last minute and don't coast when u get the chance lol, i have an ecoboost mustang with 320hp an get 35mpg driving normally to work, best ive got on long drive is 43 mpg and im damn sure when i get my 68 plate sportage i will get better than mid 30s mpg in the 1.6gdi lol 👍👍😊

Kia seem to have a problem with putting hugely underpowered engines in the Sportage meaning getting the claimed mpg is completely impossible, get 20% with it and you will be lucky (same with the previous generation). I took the 1.6 GDI (petrol) Sportage with 4 people and a boot full to Scotland and it lacks the torque for motorway cruising (averaged 20mpg compared to the claimed 45mpg) and the brakes seemed to fade and smell bad on the twisty roads without driving with any vigour. Steering was vague and felt unlinked from the wheels although when it was just me in it, it had surprising levels of grip. End of the day this isn't for 'drivers,' it's for people who want a big car for the driving position, want to stand out from the hatchbacks and love the idea of a 7 year warranty and for them it's perfect. (I am talking about the previous model but it has the same lower end engines, even though the high spec 2016 ones have turbo petrols. But from the reviews it seems it has the same unwanted driving habits keeping it from being as good as the german rivals...and it really will struggle against the new Seat 4x4 which is cheaper and bigger and has low end turbos for torque)

The standard Sportage interior is far better than the standard Tuscon. How is the Tuscon more inviting lol It's got a plastic wheel and hard cheap plastic dash + the screen is tiny compared to the Kia

Cheap, looks good, reliable and practical. Doesn't have any big drawbacks. Also, made in the uk.

+Fade Away It looks tough and it handles well. It's recognizable yet not overdesigned. It's perfect. Besides, it was one of the first cross-over semi-SUVs. So it's got the image and name. Also the interior is really really nice.
