Us being fans sometimes we don’t realize , the best music is made through pain that the artist is going through even if we are enjoying the music the events leading to the beautiful song may have not been so enjoyable for the artist music is therapy for them we’re more than the listener , we are the confidants , therapist(somewhat) and listeners all in one , when we may be satisfied with the music artist I usually not satisfied with parts of their life

I completely agree with your statement and will add that the fans can also relate in their own way to painful songs as fans also go through their own struggles in life and can use music as a release or as a kinda coping mechanism of their own. I think everybody has a song or two within them, it's just that musicians & songwriters are able to put them into lyrics & music for the wider population to enjoy or use therapeutically.
