For Mei, there is no one in the world that she treasures like Kiana. Kiana is the reason she lives, and for Mei, a world without Kiana is no world at all. It is like Kallen and Sakura. Kallen did not resist her death because she was in a world where Sakura wasn't anymore. For Mei, she cannot be in a world without Kiana, but Kiana will end up killing herself through excessive use of her Herrscher ability. So Mei had to stop her by force because Kiana is selfless, and would give her life to save the world.

She will fight for the world and will die for the world. since no world = no friends and family left Kiana doesn't want to lose then even at the cost of her life( like Himeko) Mei is only here because of Kiana, Mei knows that she needs to save the world to also save Kiana, that's why she's with kevin(i guess) for power.

I think pre-chapter 9 Kianas are the "Childish" ones, Void Drifter is more of a "Depressing" one, while HoF looks more "Motivated" or "Hopeful". Overall, a noticeable development in her character if you pay enough atention to it

Have to commend MHY for giving Kiana a very realistic maturation. In all honesty the chapter 1, and so, Kiana was half the reason I gave up on this game when I first tried it. It felt too immature and annoying. But then I gave into it again after an year or so and I got so gripped by her story and how she matured I couldn't stop respecting it. I can't wait to see her next genuine conversation with Mei since now both of them have matured a whole lot.

I used to hate Kiana during the first chapters. Not long after, she was alone, being unable to feel or taste, slowly dying due to the vast amount of honkai energy in her body, yet she never looked back. Definitely a great character

She changed so fast for 3 months timeframe. idk if it's more like psychological or puberty. If people identity is with their memory. K423 kinda inherited Sirin, HoV, and Himeko memory. So it's kinda explain such fast growth compared to just psychological or puberty factor.
