These brothers are from Detroit, my hometown. The sleeve of this album, if I recall correctly said they went to Cooley High together. Sadly Cooley closed in 2010. I was 19 years old when I bought this debut album on cassette in 1989. They had another major hit titled 'Quiet Guy', so after hearing 'Best Of Me' I had to have it. The whole album was tight. Two years later they dropped their 2nd album titled 'Civilized Rogues' and it was just just as good as the first album, but radio and the world slept on it. #DetroitStandUp

Summer of 1990, I met this guy and this was his favorite song. It always brings me back to those days. I had just graduated from high school and he was on leave before being deployed to Germany in the Army. This song, on cassette tape, kept me company until he returned and broke my heart. A lifetime ago, and I haven't seen him since, but I still remember.

Nope...you're wrong. Kiara formed in Detroit as a full band. Kiara released their first independent single titled "Quiet Guy" in the city of Detroit in 1986. The single was very successful in the greater Detroit area leading to a recording contract with the independent label Warlock Records. The group members consist of the following childhood friends: Gregory Charley (lead singer), John Winston (Guitar, Sax & Vocals), Aaron Carr (Co-lead vocals & Bass Guitar), David Johnson (Keyboards & Vocals) & Kevin McCullen (Drums & Vocals). Kevin and I grow up together on the same block, Freeland in Detroit. They only became a duet when they got signed to Arista Records.
