I like the paint job. It’s cool to see Cat machines painted colors other than the usual yellow.

Operated one of them, it was a 988 f, it was sweet! fly by wire, air condition, smooth as silk, and that's exactly what I done was loading the crusher.
@stevek88292 жыл бұрын
Some sand and stone plants loaded us trucks with 988 occasionally instead of usual 980. You could get 24 tons in two scoops. It did look good in blue.

Nothing compared to the 992 with a 15 yard bucket

What a beast, great machine.

I like how they use a white noise sounder as the reverse warning instead if the loud beep, we hear beeps constantly so they would eventually sound like nothing after working for so long. Theres a scientific video about this too
@starstencahl89852 жыл бұрын
The reason is actually, because humans can’t locate the beeping sounds properly. You know there’s something reversing somewhere, but you can’t tell exactly where it is

Building a great big vibrating crusher underneath a mountain of fractured rock is either genius or insanity .
@m.pearce32732 жыл бұрын
I don't see fractured rocks I see shaped blasting scars
@aaronwilcox64172 жыл бұрын
That tunnel has been blasted out and then rock bolt of dwydag or grouted cable suspension type installed. The whole thing is encapsulated a with wire mesh or chain link and then shotcreted. Being that it's near surface there no ground pressure as there is in deep hardrock miner. Its not insanity but sa

I was hired to build an equipment ramp for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers years ago. They were using it for repairing some of the Delta in California. A twelve foot wide ramp wasn't near wide enough. The ramp was to be used to get from the barge to the bank. So I made a ramp eighteen feet wide. The man told me, "Feel free to use the loader to move the steel, and be careful." I worked my ass off, all by myself the first day. Seventeen hours! But the next day, I told my son, "Come on, you're going to work with me today!" When we got there, he asked me, "What am I gonna do?" I said,."You're running that!" It was a CAT 989B, and it was scarry BIG! He said, "Oh no I'm not!" I took him for a ride, ran him through the controls, and when we pulled up along side a semi truck, and he realized that his backside was seated twelve inches higher than the roof on the cab of that truck, you should have seen the smile on his face! It gave me a thrill to see my sixteen year old son operate that HUGE machine, and do a fine job at that! It was a blast! What a thrill! 👈👍

The coolest thing about this is the funky back up signal sound. I've only heard the high pitched beep till this.

My Brother in Law worked at Jefferson County stone for a few years. It has a really deep mine there. Anyhow, they were changing out the tire chains on one of their big loaders and he brought me a handful of the links. They made great tow hoops for the front of my '95 Bronco. I welded them to the frame and believe it or not, they look like a factory item...

I’ve had people drive up to me at the pit and say give me a bucket load ( in their 3/4 ton 4x4 with a 8K cap. Trailer) I would say let me just sprinkle some in and you say when to stop they have no clue how much weight is in the bucket. You have 20-25 tons and rolling with it like it’s nothing

Could be close to houses. For noise mitigation. Or, backfill to stabilize an underground area no longer in use.
@peon92822 жыл бұрын
@@paultrappiel9943 This quarry is on a steep mountainside with not much space. There are conveyor belts running through tunnels down to the railway connection.
