Thank you for this video! Very hard to take Kibbe seriously when it comes to lips and nose, because what may be considered "full" or "wide" vs. other ethnicities, is not very prominent for African descent. Beyonce's a great example of lips that are not very full unless you compare her to non-Black women.

I don’t think so. My lips are thin. Black people tend to call our nose big when big,full and wide noses are in all races. I notice white people tend to have big noses more. Black people is more so wide and sometimes full, but a lot of BP just say we have big noses if our noses isn’t thin and small.

Merriam please do!!! I would LOVE to see you do a video on kpop because the fashion is sooooo much FUN! Kpop tends to show off a lot of gamine-type outfits. You can break it down to girl groups like TWICE and BLACKPINK. Only drawback is that nearly all the stars get plastic surgery on their face and maybe even their legs. I love watching the videos and guessing who has what and which outfit works the best!

I agree with you on Jada Pinkitt Smith. She always looked too dry to be a theatrical romantic to me. Theatrical romantics have soft flesh and bones, with some sharpe undercurrents in their bones. I always thought she was a falmboyant Gamine, but I can see how she's Dramatic Classic. I tend to mix flamboyant gamine with dramatic class vice versa a lot.

I think you were right originally. Classics must be moderate in height, at 5”0 Jada is too short to be classic, at that height her only options (based on Kibbe) are Gamine and Romantic.

I was surprised to hear that Jada is a DC (I thought she was a FG) but I'm glad you showed Tessa right after as the FG. I guess Jada's head is simply too small and the overall body is too balanced to be a FG (also not "boyish" enough, I guess)? Hi Merriam! Can you please make a style suggestions video on romantic body type? The clothes suggested for a romantic are usually too formal and revealing. Is there any modest or not so overly sexy way to approach the romantic clothing style for day to day wear?

Hi Sidra, I'm a romantic also. You don't have to go all the way to dress for your body type, you can simply add romantic elements to a casual outfit. For example, look for ruffle/bow details, dainty jewelry, small delicate prints, soft fabrics, defined waist. Hope this helps! 😊

I would like to ask you about the test : don't you think it should take in consideration the profile shape? Example : if you face me, my waist line would be an answer À or B But since I have large limbs and very rounded butt, from the side my waist couldn't be more accentuated

Personally I think not because that you mostly present yourself front to people so I think that's how Kibbe approached the test, but I think it works for the line recomms as well when you consider that we want to look good from all angles. What I've heard is that this lower body shape tends to be a thing with naturals (straight front line and then bigger butt from the muscular flesh, more with N and SN, FN tend to have smaller butts). It could also be a gamine quality. Maybe I am too late here commenting, 4months later haha.

Merriam Style I know Kitchener talks about essence and he mentions romantic essence and different variations of it and some of the celebrities he typed with the romantic essence were not all under the romantic type. ( Megan Fox definitely possesses this essence) Certain women possess this. I’ve seen a lot of them fall into kibbes romantic/ theatrical romantic and even soft dramatic. I would have thought Megan Fox would be a TR but I can def see dramatic classic. I guess I’m just trying to understand this essence. Being that I’m a TR myself I too possess this essence very naturally. I’m just confused to how a body type could go hand in hand with an “aura” or “essence”. It’s rather interesting. I hope this makes sense. I’m still studying all this.

Hi Merriam, if i book a quick kibbe consult, how many pictures would be enough? i don.t really have many of myself so i would have to take some especially. Problem being that i don't have many clothes (i threw loads away because i cant figure out what looks good on me!) So it might be hard to take photos in different styles.

Hi! You don't have to send a ton of pictures, the photos in different clothing just serve to confirm the type. You could send me a photo of yourself in form fitting clothing at chest level, and a photo of your face head on. You could also just send what you have (even two or three different styles would be enough), and also let me know what you've noticed about your own body!

I really like this video but im sooo confused. Im from african descent and this video helps but i really don't understand flamboyant gamine. From My answers I think it is my type but from Kelly Osbourne, Hepburn and Tessa Thompson i can't relate. Is this type like a natural but with some extra yin (but not as much as a soft natural)? Because they all seem broad and strong on their own way, even Hepburn with that jaw line. Is it just me that can not understand this type? I inicially though that I was a natural but i look weird without some sort of definition pra tailoring.

A gamine in general is very small and 'cute', with a short vertical line (head is big, making the person seem smaller, or the person is just actually small and also has a moderate - big head) typical are big eyes and delicate, showing the small size. In Aly art's videos, she explains gamine as 'mixed, but not in a blender' with random characteristics popping up, such as short limbs but with big hands and feet. That's the general gamine idea. But there is some extra 'yang' influence in the flamboyant gamine. Some extra sharpness, like less curves and more rectangle-like, a sharper nose etc. These sharp elements are the yang unfluence.
