Thank you, I agree with you a lot)! There is also another system, established by L. Popova, which has 4 basic cathegories: naive (close to ingenue), sophisticated romanticism (close to ethereal), dramatic, classic. In this system there are 8 types of lines, instead of 2. According to this system, sophisticated romanticism usually manifests itself in a face via slight asymmetry, a special type of lines (brittle, broken, intricate) and usually muted colouration, thin hair and so on. For me, personally, the system of Dwyn Larson (which is an extended and reworked Kibbe system) works better. It doesn't have any ethereal analogues. When I first became interested in style I listened to some lectures in the school, which developed the ideas of L. Popova and was defined by a specialist as an intricate romantic (~ethereal), but when I tried some clothes according to the recommendetions given, there was something wrong, it didn't fit right. A year later I got another consultation and was defined as dramatic gamine accirding to Dwyn Larson system and it works much better for me) Sorry for my English)

The big head question made me laugh. I distinctly remember seeing a photo of myself next to my best friend in high school and being appalled that my head was bigger than hers even though she was taller! Now I know that's just part of my kibbe type, and not something to be insecure about. Big head club X'D

This is so funny: I spent a significant part of my teens wondering why on Earth my head (which my Mum always called 'proportional' and 'graceful') was so small compared to all the actresses and celebrities (now I realise 'all' was a bit of an exaggeration...). I always thought it was too small for me to have any 'character' in my face, if that makes sense. Now I know I'm a Dramatic Classic and it's just part of my beauty type, and I can make myself look 'interesting' in other ways than a bright lip and a pixie cut :)

I enjoy your videos and I am learning to play with both the Kibbe and color analysis system to make them right for me. For part II, it would be helpful if you included photos to illustrate the concepts. Otherwise, it adds confusion where you're trying to clarify. For example, what are examples of classic clothing people can try? I think I know what "classic" clothing is and I've watched the videos. However, some compare/contrast photos of celebrities would be helpful. Thank you!

The height issue confused me for a long time too. I look terrible as a Flamboyant Natural. I am completely lost. Your suggestion to just try on the clothes is exactly what I did and what lead me to the true answer. As you say, the whole point is how the clothes look on you and there is no denying that the best looking clothes on me are Gamine/Soft Gamine. Now that I better understand what to look for I can see how despite height my lines are very Gamine but the test always lead me to Soft Classic. I think it's because I didn't know what I was seeing so I just kept choosing 'balanced'. Nothing looked extreme or obvious to me.

I think that the only reason people think Cate Blanchet is etherial is because she played Galadriel. Just looking at her as her normal self, I don't see it at all. Culture affecting what we see indeed.

Thank you for this video!!! I think I’ve finally come to the conclusion that I’m a soft classic, I don’t fit every single characteristic (I’m taller and have a smaller waist that stays small no matter weight) but SC is my best match. I can’t wait for part 2. Only thing I’m wondering, can you talk about (and show examples of) the specific clothing lines of each type and clothes that kind of summarize each type that people can try on?? For example what necklines are specifically this and that type

Wuau! So right!! I came by myself to the same conclusion as I was between R and SC. The truth is that if I wear delicate romantic clothes/outfit it does not fit me by some reason, BUT when I wear plain clasic pieces I pop up! As SC if I feel playful, I only need a pair of big earrings, I rolle up my sleeves, put high heels on and red lipstick. More details in me look awkward......Thank you very much for your videos, you do an excellent job!

This is really great for me. I'm a romantic I think, lots of e and d answers. I think the ethereal ingenue stuff is very useful too. I feel that I fit into ingenue and ethereal too. I'm learning to express those elements that I love through in the romantic details, like diaphanous makeup, tiny rounded jewellery etc. Love your videos.

Thank you for tha Q&A, looking forward to see part 2!! I think that the confusions is that we see ourselves in a certain way and we are not always objective with ourselves, I'm confused between soft gamine and theatrical romantic I have hard time seeing if my bones are dominant yang or mixure or slightly yang. On aly art's video there are pictures but I sometimes feel in between two pictures, and when our eyes are not trained it's hard to forget wha we think of ourselves and to not focus on what we don't like about ourselves (traits we might exagerate which can conduct to false answers)

This is where the clothes can tell you :) 👍. I feel like im soft natural but i look way more feminine to myself than most the examples of it. So i still want an outside opinion. But yeah its those clothing rules i think that suit me better (as opposed to theatrical romantic).

Hi great video ! I have a question : how can you answer correctly the test ? Because sometimes I get confused between B and E answer or D and A which is a bit more problematic than not knowing between D and E because they are both yin. Also I find different illustrated test but they contradict each other so that didn’t really help. And I’m still confused about the C answer especially for the facial bones. Your analysis is so helpful, I was really confused about the Kibbe types until I started listening to your videos. Thanks for sharing your wisdom with us. I do have a question I would love to hear you talk about: the difference between SG and TR. SG is said to be a mix of yin and yang opposites with extra yin, while TR is yin with a yang undercurrent. How do you tell the difference in real life between a mix of opposites and an 'undercurrent'? I'm 100% I'm one of these but with my 'ethnic features' it's hard to know which, since I don't look anything like the photos of celebrities used to illustrate the types.

Hi. Love your videos. I believe I'm a soft dramatic and autumn. I really love mixing feminine with masculine elements in wardrobe, such as boxy oversized blazers, leather loafers etc a la Lizzy Hadfield. But I also like to emphasize my waist with high waistlines. I feel like the Kibbe suggestions would have me dress in old Hollywood, sex bombshell type of clothes. That doesn't really match my personality or fit into my lifestyle. I also feel like some of the suggestions like draped fabric and tops with cowls don't look fashion forward or fresh to me. I was wondering if you might have any thoughts on that. Can a soft dramatic have a more tomboy element in her style and still look harmonious with her lines? My thinking is that there's enough yin in there that it can be done. I think moderate amounts of shoulder pad in my blazers, for instance, are better. Some outfits can make my shoulders look droopy.
@cadaver6665
@cadaver6665 6 жыл бұрын
Débora Lessa I'm wondering the same as a SD and I like a dramatic, simple style much better than anything overly feminine. But I do believe a SD can wear masculine elements as well as long as you include some softness fe. draping into the outfit. I like to wear a sharp blazer with a bowtie shirt and I think that looks good. I like blazers and coats with small pads or a sharp cut that fits just right. Big ones aren't super bad either but feel a bit ridiculous to wear on daily basis. Also high waist paperbag trousers and flared trousers are my favourites and better than anything overly fitted, I think it looks good if you're tall with a feminine figure. What I like about being a SD is that you don't easily look overdressed or too formal even in very evening-y looks
@debless9572
@debless9572 6 жыл бұрын
molu ormolu thanks for the input. I googled the main actresses who are listed as SD and they usually dress very glamorous even for casual looks. But Eva Mendes has some casual looks l like, very up my alley. It's high waisted skirts but the fabrics are flowy and the overall look is relatively laid back.

I'm trying to help my friend because she really struggles finding clothes she enjoys wearing, and I'm a little confused. Her answers are A-2 B-7 C-1 D-5 and E-0. Her flesh is pretty even, but her bones are B dominate, and her face is D dominate aside from her nose(B) and lips(A or C). Her defining features are her very broad shoulders/chest(small bust), her very small head with prominent nose and eyes, and her high wide hips(waspish waist). At First I thought she would be a type of gamine, but I really feel that she looks so much better in longer lines. She used to always wear highwaisted black skinny jeans with a tucked in black turtle neck, and long wavy black hair for work, and I thought she looked stunning. Whereas short shorts with a blocky loose shirt, and chin length straight hair looks awkward on her. Does she sound like a soft natural to you? Thanks in advance :) Love your videos.

I agree on the soft classic and romantic, I look miserable, bored and tired with soft classic clothes. I slowly think I'm a threatical romantic. But many people told me that I look young, I'm 21 and they think I'm like 15, although I'm tall 1'72. I don't understand why they think so, I find, that I look actually old for my age or even older, idk. Maybe it's because I don't wear much makeup. Rachel Mc Adams is a threatical romantic too and she looks very young, she played a high school student when she was 25 years old, Mean Girls. I have a question I'm trying to type people on my own, but it's very hard for me to type this person. Her name is Rosé and she's from a Korean girl group called BlackPink. I'd type her as a dramatic or as a gamine, but with the clothes she's wearing it's confusing to me. Really good video and I also have a question. I am a soft dramatic, but I am a toasted soft summer (a blend of warm autumn and dark autumn) by the color breeze system, which is a more detailed version of the 12 season color system. Basically, I am unsure about my hair color, since by kibbe it should be very bold like a black, platinum blond or bright red, but those would look horrible on me, since warm, muted colors fit with my season. Naturally, I have dark brown hair on the roots which becomes a medium brown through the length, with warm, orange undertones, which sometimes look golden in dull or excessively bright lighting. I have very light skin with STRONG yellow undertones and medium brown eyes. I have never ever colored my hair and neither do I want to right now. Just trying to keep my options open.
@merriamstyle
@merriamstyle 6 жыл бұрын
It's the same concept as for the bright vs muted colors--that hair color that is slightly muted but not too muted will already look bold against your skin if you're a muted warm season. Although I don't trust any system except my own for color analysis personally, so I don't know if you're muted or bright etc. But let's say you are muted, then a semi-dark warm brown would already look bold on you. The way you describe your current hair color sounds pretty good. But I think you may want to dye it to be one solid color that's similar to your natural hair color or even one-two shades darker/richer and warmer instead of lightening at the ends. Hope that answered your questions!!

I've been wondering, does the test give accurate results for teenagers? I'm sixteen, and I've finished growing, but every time I take the test, I get lots of answers that are confused, especially for the questions pertaining to flesh type. Also, I tend to not wear accessories, I don't really feel like they add much to me, is that an indication that I might be classic? Or just a personal taste thing? Love from europe xx
@iamkrisx
@iamkrisx 6 жыл бұрын
Hi, i had the same question for some time. I can tell you that is not very accurate until you are 22, 23 because for most teens, you have extra sharpness or extra softness. I was 14 when i stoped growing but i was dry, sharp with a long vertical line for years. I was 19 when i got hips and my waist seams smaller now. Another example is Tyra Banks. She had to change her carrear at 19, 20 because her body lost part of the teenager sharpness and the high fashion modeling industry did not want to work with her anymore. Google photos of her and you Will see. Sorry for my bad English though.

Same for me. I'm 17, stopped growing at 13(!) and I think I am a soft classic, taking my teenagesharpness into account. I'm very skinny right now and even though my body will nto change much in the future probably (I pretty recently got a bit 'softer', before I was even sharper) I take into accouNT I'm slightly underweight, but besides that, I am still relatively fleshy which puts me in the soft category.

You are 5"7? you look so much shorter, because of the shape of your face I think. I'm also 5"7 but i'm a dramatic type. My face is very gaunt.

Your videos are SO interesting!! First I thought I was a romantic cause I'm short and quite curvy. I've always been told I was very feminine. But then I asked my mom to help me answer Kibbe's test and she told me I was more symmetrical than curvy. Now I think I am a soft classic but I am only 5 foot 1. I don't know any soft classic celebrity that is that short?

I'm a soft classic and I'm short too, 157 cm. I think the best way to determine the height thing is how tall you look in pictures. For instance despite my short statue I don't look like an exceedingly short person in photos. hope this helps :)

What about if I'm 5'3, and most of my answers are D and B? I don't feel like a theatrical romantic, and my face is more yang than yin. I need some help, please.

How many D vs B? How about flamboyant gamine? Is the flesh on your body yang or yin? I say flamboyant gamine because they have a yin skeleton but yang flesh and you say your face is more yang.

D and B are equal, my test is very mixed! A-3, B-5, C-3, D-5 and E-0. And I think i could maybe be a FG or a SN, but my face is more yang and i think my skeleton is more yang too. I'm lost!

Read this. www.truth-is-beauty.com/blog/dress-for-your-face-not-for-your-body It is covered! And it works just right for me! It's so useful to know. And you can always switch it up when you want, so you can dress your face type one day and dress your body type another day. Or see which one feels and looks best on you.

@@merriamstyle OMG thank you so much for answering me 😍 Can you explain me a bit please what do you mean coz i cant imagine long flowing dresses in gamine lines :( Thanks again ❤
@merriamstyle
@merriamstyle 5 жыл бұрын
@@belgianbeer7791 Yes! You can do some higher neckline crop tops for example in those 'boho fabrics' with boho lace and you can also do some waist emphasis because they will be crop tops. And if they're white and your skin is kind of tan, they will also create a color block. Then it's ok if your skirt is long. In my video for Soft Gamines, I showed Jenna Coleman wearing a long light blue dress and since it had a lot of SG elements already, she wore it beautifully even though technically it was 'long'. Hope that helped!
