"You've been clean and sober for years? Why didn't you call me, bitch!" is my sentiments exactly. I've never been taken away/sent away from my parents before, but I'd imagine I wouldn't want to know them if they were like Mariah's mother in this film.

I just realized that this happened to Mariah both in real life and in the film. I remember hearing abouy Tommy, her first husband/manager, was really controlling of Mariah's music and the way she dressed like the Dice character. Then after she divorced him, he was trying to sabotage her career until she switched record labels. For some reason, JLo was involved and that's why they have bad blood. Boy, the entertainment industry sure is something, huh?

I never understood this double standard. Girl slaps a guy, nobody bats an eye. Guy slaps a girl, people are all over him. Your reaction shouldn't be based on what gender gets hit. No one should hit anyone in general.

I actually do agree, no one should be slapping anyone, but unfortunately they're both tools. It's odd that the movie portrayed the man as the verbally controlling one, and the woman as the physically violent one though, so props?

Mariah Carey actually blames 9/11 for the movie under-performing, saying that it was the worst time for a movie to come out 'cause who'd wanna go to the movies after a tragedy like that. Like i get how that would make sense, you know, if it was a better movie, but seeing Glitter like no, Mariah, your movie just sucks.

+I'mNotCharlesBarkley SoDon'tBanMe This is why this movie bombed, because: 1. The movie was released on September 21, 2001 2. It came out 10 days after the 9/11 attacks including the World Trade Center's twin towers, and the twin towers was shown in "Glitter" which was the last time where this film was in there. I've seen twin towers in movies including "Saturday Night Fever" where it featured the opening shot of lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge until the opening credits starts. 3. It was Mariah Carey's only feature length film. I rather watch a better movie which is better than this one. "A Star Is Born" which was a pretty darn movie, and it starred Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson or the 1954 version with Judy Garland, or the original from 1937 with Janet Gaynor.

Mariah's basically a crash dummy in this movie. Her drunk mother, her career, even her break-up with her "romantic interest" affects nothing for her character. She doesn't grow, learn, or even CAUSE anything. It's Mamamia all over again. No, I take that back. Mamamia had a plot. It barely had conflict but it at least had a plot.

Mariah's acting, especially when trying to emote, resembles that of someone who just lost their car keys. That being said, as terrible as this movie is, the soundtrack album wasn't that bad. "Never Too Far" and "Twister" are great songs outside of this train wreck of a movie.

I've seen "Glitter" once or twice on TV, but not in a theater or I didn't get the DVD, I taped it off of TV many year ago. It was an okay film, but the songs were great, and this was Mariah Carey's only feature length film, just like they did with Neil Diamond in the "Jazz Singer" back in 1980 which was also his only attempt at a feature length film and "Can't Stop the Music" with the Village People in their only attempt at a film, or prior to that was "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" with the Bee Gees with a special appearance by Earth, Wind & Fire. This film was released on September 21st, 2001, that was 10 days after tragedy stuck when both planes hit the twin towers of the World Trade Center and destroyed them one by one. But that was September 11th, 2001, and this was also the last movie that the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center was shown after it was attacked. thousands of people were lost in the building, and many of them survived. 10 days after 9/11, the movie didn't do very well. It was a great movie, but who cares.
