Version 6-to-be will introduce more specific rules like clearance between nets forum.kicad.info/t/need-some-guinea-pigs-for-a-rule-based-drc-prototype/22955 Be patient ;-)

Great thanks! That will be awesome, looking forward to it :)

03:50 I was looking for this... working with freeautoroute plug-in, mistakes have been made, deleting every route manually was a pain in the back...

thank you. Helped me a lot.

Hi JP - useful functionality, however I can think of places where this would cause its own problems, eg: - High current track, with a current sense resistor - Current path would need broad tracks - Current sensing lines might require narrow tracks (doesn't *need* broad tracks, in any case) - Both current path and current sensing lines would connect to the same nets - Battery supply connection with voltage sensing - Battery supply / charging would need broad tracks - Voltage sensing lines again might require narrow tracks (doesn't *need* broad tracks, in any case) - Both Battery supply / charging and voltage sensing lines would connect to the same nets Is there a way to override the track widths without violating the DRC? I like your videos and they are very informative. I was wondering though if you might do a video on just routing a single layer board in KiCAD. I looked all over the internet and KZbin for the information and only found one solution which was to go into the dsn file and delete the top layer section, but it did not work for me when using freerouting.

Hi 👋I appreciate your comment🙂. You mean like a single layer PCB so you can etch it or use a CNC machine? What is the reason you would like to do single? When you output gerbers you can only choose the top layer that might help? Let me know, otherwise we can chat on Discord maybe then I can help you🙂

@@PlumPot Yes, a single layer, the back side of a single sided home made pcb. I kept getting errors when importing the ses file into KiCAD from freerouting. I figured it out though when using freerouting that comes with Layout Editor. I was using freerouting 1.3, but there is another version 1.4.4 on github and that one worked without any errors after setting the autorouter in freerouting to just route on the backside. I had to use the Windows installer as just extracting the jar file from the linux zip file did not work though one would think a jar file would work on either OS.

Well, I found the solution on another KZbin video. After laying out the pcb in PCBnew and creating the dsn file you need to open up the dsn file in a text editor and delete front or top layer section under layers. Then save it and import it into freerouter. It will only route the bottom layer.

Thanks for informative video. If possibly some increase a voice volume. I have a difficulty like here, to route GND on U1 with track with for example 1mm? You do not show this. On Altium I was change track width.

Thanks for this comment, will make the volume louder in the future thanks :) Did you manage to see where to increase the track width? Not sure what you mean by Altium, this is a KiCad tutorial? You want to know how to change the width in Altium?

Good morning, this a question for the host or anyone in the comment section. What is a good rule when make track sizes on a PCB? big is better if you have the space or small. examples: 5V power line 3V power line signal line Thanks in advance

Hi congratulations for the video, can I ask you something ? How do we change the clearance between track and groundplane or power plane ?? Is it the same process ??
@PlumPot4 жыл бұрын
Hi🙃. Yes when you set a clearance rule for a track that rule applies for all other components respect to the track. I hope I understand your question correctly
