For how much it can be taken as “silly” I think it contains some pretty badass realistic and cruel scenes. Just like this fight, it’s way more real than many other comic movies. But this is supposed to be different because it’s about a normal guy willing to help others and do heroic things, he’s not a superhero. That’s why I loved this movie, for its very well presented crudity.

The amazing and scary part about this scene it depicts harsh reality of todays society with a dash of hope. Far too many will stand by and film violence but very few would step in to stop it. The question the kid asked was right on. The problem isnt him but the people who stood by and did nothing to help the man being beaten to death.

I was liking this movie a lot until this scene, then I just loved it. It's when I realized it wasn't just a goofy comedy-action film. I love it when he gets up and continues to try to defend this guy he doesn't know, like a real hero. Then the guy he saved is barely conscious, but still manages to thank him. It was like "damn. This is actually touching."

I was in my early 30s when this movie came out. My son was about your age at the time lol. Anyway, this scene kinda makes the whole movie for me. It's clear that he's not very good at fighting, not yet at least, he's just a young man with a brave heart, a love of heroes, and a desire for something greater in his life. And this is his first real test of what being a hero really means. He's clearly afraid, and hurting, but he's determined to stand his ground and be a hero in this moment.

When I first watched this movie, I didn't really like it but after a few more runs, I can honestly say it's one of my favorite superhero movies of all time and one of the best ever made. This scene gave me so much feels, especially when Kickass gives that speech near the end. This scene alone is better than most Marvel CGI shitfest that happens today. Black Panther is meh, Homecoming was meh and even Infinity War was meh. I blame the first Avengers (Still a great movie) for setting the bar so damn high with all the unnecessary humor, the ensemble cast, etc. now EVERY movie is trying to be "Avengers-like" and its dumb. I miss the subtle humor and serious moments in these types of movies, Spider-Man 2 being a great example.
